Fear clawed at her. Though she tried to mask it she knew she didn't succeed. Gulping down her fear, she hesitantly slide into the chair. It was hard, cold and it was very uncomfortable. She ignored it and leaned back then closed her eyes preparing for the worst. Lacey didn't know what Tate was going to do but at this point she didn't care. It didn't matter. She just wanted it over with. There was nothing else to do except wait for whatever was about to happen. But when nothing did happen she snapped her eyes opened and found Tate looking strangely at her.
"What are you doing?"
She asked. Why can't he just get it over with?
"Don't be in a rush. Calm down, you have time."
He instructed smoothly. No! She didn't have time! Emotions spilled out of her. She had to do this now, at this moment. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to do it any other time.
"Right now, do it!"
She snapped harsher than she wanted it. But he didn't flinch or even blink. What was he thinking? Why couldn't he go through with the plan? What was the delay?
"You have time. Laid back and relax we don't have to do this now."
He smoothed. He folded his arms over his chest.
He wanted to cry, but instead she glared at him.
"No, I need this now. You don't understand."
That was the truth, he didn't understand. No one did. Lacey started to panic. What if he decides not to do it? She should feel relief but she felt even more afraid.
"What don't I understand?"
He continued to interrogate.
She fought the urge to slap him. What was with all the questions? He didn't know anything! And that's then way it is going to stay. He knew nothing about her. Nothing.
"You don't understand anything."
I shot back, angrily.
"Then why don't you give me a chance too?"
"You wouldn't understand. It's my life, just stay out!"
"Give me a chance. I'm a very good listener."
"No! Just go away."
"You truly don't what me to leave."
"Yes I do! Leave me be!"
"Don't say things you don't mean."
"I mean it."
"No you don't."
"Yes I do. Leave."
Tate uncrossed his arms then tilted his head towards her. Angry and frustrated Lacey swiftly got out of the chair. What was she doing? She needed him and the chair. A sudden wave of realization washed upon her. Lacey was confused; she didn't know what she wanted anymore. Her life had gone downhill every since that day . That awful, haunting day. Shivers ran up her spine. What had her life become? She sighed and hit her hand against her forehead. She wasn't even mad at him, she was made with herself. Tate notice the sudden change of attitude. Slowly he inched forward.
"I can help.....let me help you."
He murmured softly. She slowly looked up at him and notice the sincereness in his eyes. Could he really help? Could Lacey trust him? No, she told herself. She didnt know Tate Spencer, he was a stranger. She couldn't talk about it, no to him not to anyone. This will always be a secret that only she knew even if it was the death of her.
