Tate instantly felt Lacey's body cling closer to him, and he couldn't blame her."Steak and Roast" didn't give off the family friendly feeling.
"Are we eating...here?"
She asked quivering. He sighed then spotted an open table near an window. Quickly darted towards it.
"Yes."
He answered bluntly and slide into the seat.
"But- I don't want to eat. I want you to do your job."
She whined. He sighed again and motioned for her to sit across from him.
"Sit. Relax a bit."
Stubbornly she shook her head. Just how paranoid was she that she couldn't eat at a restaurant?
"What are you afraid of? No one knows you here."
Again she shook her head crossing her arms over chest.
"You don't know that....can't we just go?..I thought you would help me."
Lacey pleaded. He was aware of the undeniable fear in those blue eyes. But Tate knew that she needed this.
That was the thing she didn't understand; he was helping her.
"Trust me, I am helping you."
He promised. Before she could reply a middle age waitress walked towards them holding a small pad and pen. Tate gave Lacey a pleading stare. Reluctantly, she slide into the seat across him before the waitress approached the table.
"Trust me."
He whispered. She didn't say anything. Her expression was unreadable.
"Hello, my name is Pam...can I get you two something to drink."
Pam asked flipping open the pad.
Tate ordered two waters when Lacey said no thanks. Pam nodded then disappeared in the kitchen.
"It isn't healthy, you know."
Tate shrugged at her. He knew she was probably too nervous to eat but it didn't mean she shouldn't have water. Lacey rolled her eyes.
"Your suppose to be helping me.."
She reminded. Tate curled his lips into a smile.
"I'm am."
She crunched her eyebrows in confusion.
"How?"
Tate only shrugged.
"You'll see."
Lacey scoffed in irritation. There was a pause and Tate wanted to use this moment to ask her about herself. He hoped he could find background information. He wanted to get to know Lacey. But before he had the chance Pam came over carrying a tray with two glasses of water.
