Tate shuffled with his key before unlocking the door. He opened it easily and back up letting Lacey enter first. She slide past and Tate shut the door, locking it. The lights flickered on in the dark, house. He didn't even to bother to look around. He knew every inch of the home. It had two bedroom, a kitchen, a small living room, two couches, an bathroom with an shower, and a medium size Tv. Simple. As he expected Lacey was analyzing.

"It's not much, but it will keep you safe."

Tate promised.

"You can stay here..until your safe."

He added walking towards the kitchen.

"It won't be long."

Lacey said following him.

He flicked the light on, and the refrigerator appeared. He wasn't hungry; he had just eaten. A small smile appeared when he thought back to the nice dinner he had shared with Lacey. She had eaten also, and Tate knew she had forgotten her troubles, even if it was only for an afternoon. There wasn't much to look at so he moved on towards the bedrooms. First he lead her towards hers. He pushed the door opened and turned the light on. The walls were plain and there was only a bed plopped in the middle with white sheets. Lacey's blue eye's fluttered around the room. Her small nose crunched up and Tate wanted to grin. It was adorable...everything about her was..

"Um..this will do..."

Lacey said snapping him out of his thoughts. Her face told him that she was only being polite. He smiled towards her.

"It's not much..it's a guest room...oh, and I will wash the sheets.."

Tate stuttered a bit awkwardly. Her full lips curled into a smile, releasing the tenseness.

"Thanks."

He nodded, and stuffed his hands deep in his suit pockets. Lacey's blue eyes fluttered down and she shuffled her feet. Tate cleared his throat.

"If you ever need anything..just call..um, I'll give you my number."

Lacey's eyes instantly shot up.

"Your..not staying here..I'm going to be here alone?" Lacey eye were wide with fear. He tilted his head. She wanted him to stay with her? No, she just didn't want to be alone, he corrected himself. Again he cleared his throat and tilted his weight on the other side.

"No, I'm not. Do you have any family members or friends that could stay with you?"

Tate asked. Surely, she must have somebody.
