Lacey's curiosity got the best of her. Tate had been scrolling through a folder for the past five minuets. And not once did he look up. She watched his eye brows crunch up over and over again, she couldn't help but wonder what he was reading. Was it on her? Was it her whole life? And if so, what did he think? When her hands started to fidget she tightly clasped then together. Words were tempted to spill out of her but she didn't want to get him mad or irritated. Lacey finally sighed in defeat. She couldn't do anything until he was done. She glanced up at his face, and hide a smile. Tate was truly a handsome man, he might have been the most attractive man she had meet in her short twenty one years of living. And it made her wonder why a young man like hime would be here. It didn't make any sense, but then, she could ask herself what a young women like herself would doing here.

"Miss Burns,"

Finally Tate spoke, but he didn't look up.

"Lacey,"

I corrected politely with a smile even though he wasn't looking. He nodded then those chocolate eyes looked up. He was really handsome...

"Right, Lacey...I have to ask, what are you doing here?"

His eyes were filled with curiosity and concern. Ignoring the sudden stop drop of her stomach, she gave him a wary smile.

"You know why I'm here."

Was all Lacey could say. If she went In to anymore detail she would be in tears. And God only knows what he would do if he witnessed her puking and crying in the same hour. He closed the folder and tossed it on the table then folded his arms on the table. His expression looked stern.

"Yes, but how did you get here?"

Tate raised his eyebrows. Panic and sorrow shot through her. She shifted in her seat, showing how uncomfortable she was. When she didn't reply, he sighed, realizing it was no use.

"Alright, you win. But remember, this was never my fault nor anyone else's. This is all on you, so when this get hard or even unbearable, know I can't do anything."

Tate told her. His words sting her and the hairs on her back suddenly stood up. The brief warning haunted her. Lacey cleared her throat and tried to push back the terrible thoughts.

"I know. I'm completely responsible. Now can we get to it?"

She said with confidence even though her stomach did another flip. She knew this wasn't right, but Lacey had no other option. She had to. She watched his face change, and it looked as if he honestly didn't want her to do this. But it wasn't his place. Finally he got up from the table and hesitantly held his hand out towards her. Lacey tilted her head before slowly placing her tiny hand in his large one.Warmth spread throughout her body as he gently pulled her up. One thing Lacey over looked was that taking his hand would changed her life forever.
