Lacey stared wide eyed at him and subconsciously took a step back. Fear and panic swirled around her. Concerned Tate peered down at her.

"You are in danger, aren't you?"

He murmured and smoothly took a step forward. Lacey heart started to pound as she stepped back further. What was she to do? Should she tell him the truth? No, she couldn't. Tate couldn't be trusted, she had just meant him.

"Stop..."

She whispered, hoarsely. Her voice sounded shaky an unsure. And he must have noticed it as he took advantage. Once again he took a step closer. Her bright eyes were wide; she looked like a deer caught in the highlights. He was cornering her, she thought. There was no place to go when her back brushed against the wall. It was a trap, she screamed to herself. What was she going to do? What was there to do? She could feel Tate's body close to her and she wanted to feel scared but inside she felt safe. He loomed over her, she could feel his breath. What was he going to do? Lacey stared wide eyed at him waiting. Her heart skipped a beat, as he curled his lips into a small unexpected smile.

"Your safe here, Lacey."

He murmured. Another heart beat skipped. Tate had said her name, for the first time. And she liked it, it felt right hearing him say her name. She tried hiding her own smile but unfortunately she didn't succeed. She swallowed again and hesitantly studied him. Was she really safe...here? With him? She didn't know what or who to trust but with him, she wanted too. For a moment she didn't say anything, then she felt slightly disappointed as he took a small step back, giving her a chance to breath.

"I can't tell...anyone."

She finally told him. It was the truth. Inside she wanted to tell him everything but she knew it wouldn't be practical. Tate didn't frown or even change his soft expression.

"It's okay...tell me what I can do, to help you."

He smiled. She gulped looking at him. Was he serious?

"You have nothing to loose, do you?"

He questioned. Slowly she shook her head. He had figured her out.

"No..."

Lacey palms were sweaty as she let out a breath.

"Why do you want to help me?"

She questioned. He didn't know her so why was he pressuring her to let him help? He didn't even know the situation.

"No one deserves...this."

He said motioning to the chair.

"Then why do you have it?"

Lacey didn't know anything about the chair, she only knew it would help her escape. Was he telling her that it was dangerous? Tate eye brows crunched together and he swallowed nervous ally.

"It's my job.."

It didn't make any sense to Lacey. What was so special about this job?and why can't Tate get a new job?

"Why?"

The roles hade switched. Tate fidgeted with his feet and now she kept applying pressure.

"It's complicated. Too many reasons."

Lacy raised her eyebrows. She was familiar with complicated; her life had too many reasons and questions. She didn't continue to interrogate him any longer. Silence fell between them. After the long pause, Tate looked at her.

"I guess we have something in common."

Lacey tilted her head.

"What's that?"

He paused again, bending his head down briefly before staring at her again.

"Both of us have have a secret that...we are afraid to share."
