Standing against this beast was terrifying, I was currently creating an energy shield as Ammit whipped her tail over and over again at my barriers, her claws scraping against it as I fought with everything I had to keep it back.
"You can't hold on forever!" She hissed and I growled in response, pushing back on the field before slamming my palm hard against it – sending the goddess tumbling backwards allowing me to catch my breath.
"I do my best..." I breathed, my hands pressing onto my knees as I heard Harrow chanting something outside the pyramid. Purple energy swirling around the room and into the dark night. What the hell was going on now, I haven't really seen the scale of what Harrow can do but according to Steven it wasn't going to be a happy ending.
"You're too late." The beast smirked, her tail helping her to stand, her scales glistening in all her demon glory. I went to blast her again but the slippery crocodile, lion, hippo thing slid out of the chamber, slipping through the hole Arthur made to get in and escaping into the night.
"Son of a bitch..." I took a deep breath and went to run after her, freezing on the spot as my muscles became rigid. I fell to my knees - clutching my chest as what I fought to keep at bay began to wrestle against my restraints. "I can do this without you..." I growled, dropping forward, my nails scratching against floor as I fought against it. I pushed the power down, knowing full well that the volcano was going to blow anytime. I steadied my breath again, my heart rate returning to normal before I jumped back onto my feet and sprinting after the god.
When I stepped out into the night I gazed up to the moon, the wind blowing through my hair as I held back my sadness, I can mourn them when this is all over. I looked down, jumping level to level as I made it down the pyramid, my eyes locked onto Ammit... I honestly cannot describe this in any other way than, eating the souls of those Harrows men judged. I watched in horror as I she grew, growing larger and larger as she consumed more souls, he large figure blocking out the light of the moon and casting my small self into a shadow.
"And they say redheads steals souls..." I muttered, my boots crunching into the sand as I started walking towards Ammit. For a moment all I heard was Arthur chanting, that was until a whistle sound floated in the breeze, my gaze lifting to the skies to see someone I didn't expect. Marc didn't hesitate in and tackling Harrow to prevent any more souls from being taken, I threw my hands into the air in victory.
"Marc!!" I screamed, my voice carrying in the wind as my eyes welled up in tears. How is he here, how could he possibly be alive? I didn't have much time to enjoy this moment due to the ginormous crocodile swung her humongous tail hard into the ground beside me, sending me and a wave of sand flying up into the air before landing harshly against the stone blocks of the pyramid, my legs grazing the stone and tearing away skin.
"I...hate...sand..." I groaned, rolling forward – wasting no time before dropping down a level, landing in a crouch before the power within me shook. If I let it out then there's no guarantee I could contain it again, I wouldn't be the girl Steven kissed - I'd be a killer.
I was drawn back as Ammit stomped towards me, my body straightening as I tried to draw energy to my hands. "Not now..." I moaned, shaking my hands before my chest began to ache, pain ripping through me as I screamed, my fingers clawing at my chest as tears ran down my cheeks. It was coming... I couldn't stop it... oh my god, what if I hurt Marc. My body started to tremble, the thing I fought to control taking over my body bit by bit, my strength no longer able to keep it contained.
"Rena!" Marc swooped down, stopping beside me as his hands gripped my shoulders. "Rena! What's wrong?!"
I pushed him back, my face looking at him as my eyes burned a bright orange as the energy around me began to swarm. "You need to get back... I don't want to hurt you!" I screamed again as it finally broke free, a field of energy blasting outward and knocking Marc back. I tried to look around, seeing if he was okay but my body was disobeying me now and I started to slowly lift off the ground, the orange energy swarming around me again and again as I flew up to Ammit.
