After everyone left the room, I used the restroom and fell onto the empty bed once again.
Why everyone had been gathered around me before the sun was even out baffled me.
I checked the time on the digital bedside clock.
6:13 am
I adjusted the bonnet on my head, grabbed a pillow and decided to get a few more minutes of sleep in.
Breakfast would have to wait.
The sun peeked through the intricate patterns of the glass balcony doors, falling onto his peacefully sleeping face and making my heart flutter with an unfathomable amount of awe.
I was laying on my stomach, arms folded under my chin, and the duvet covering my body.
I glanced at the clock.
11 am
I wanted to get up and use the restroom again, but I didn't feel like getting up or waking him.
I knew that if I got up- he'd wake up..and as creepy as it sounds, I wanted to keep watching him sleep.
I couldn't help but stare at him, studying his every movement..every feature.
Valen's hair was its usual shiny brown color, it cascaded over his face and rested over his shoulders. His septum ring was slightly crooked, long brown lashes dusted over his freckled cheeks, the metal in his piercings reflected light from the sun- the sight was almost ethereal.
The steady rise and fall of his chest was somehow calming to see, the rhythm of his breathing staying the same.
I guess he'd decided to come sleep next to me after i fell asleep.
Birds chirped as I examined his bare skin.
The necklace that I'd noticed him wearing weeks before, caught my eye first. The green crystal seeming to glow in the sunlight as well. The gem was beautiful, and somehow, it gave me a sense of nostalgia.
Something about the stone looked eerily familiar.
Then I saw it, right beside the necklace.
A scar trailed from underneath his left collarbone to the top of his peck. It looked like an old one, but for it to have left a scar on someone who I assumed could heal quickly -it had to have been a deep wound.
What could have happened?
"I love when you stare at me." His eyes were still closed, and that low and raspy voice was music to my ears.
"I'd be a fool not to. You're handsome." The words slipped out before I could stop them and I blamed it on my drowsiness.
His lips tilted up into a smile at my words and I worried about the effect the simple action had on my heart.
Birds chirped loudly for a few moments, as I continued to stare at him shamelessly.
"And you're the most gorgeous woman I've ever laid eyes on." He turned over on his stomach, laying his head on his arm and finally opening the eyes that drew me in when I first saw him. "I'm sorry for last night. I didn't mean to upset you. It was wrong of me to hit you with so much information in one day and expect a perfect reaction. Please forgive me Naomi." He used his hang to push his hair out of his face, I watched as the strands fell back where they were.
