Naomi Jones
Hearing him say my name honestly made my heart skip a few beats.
"Hey Valen." I smiled. He returned it almost immediately.
Gazing at him, a question continued to plague my mind.
How can someone look so perfect?
His eyes crinkled in the corners when he grinned, and like usual- they were the color of a burning flame. Trailing my gaze downward, I noticed that his nose and teeth seemed to lack a single flaw.
And honestly, If I were any lighter, he'd definitely be able to see the prominent blush on my cheeks.
"So tell me about your day." I spoke up, desperate to get his smile to falter a bit- for my own sake.
It did the opposite.
He smiled a tad bit wider and put his arm on his desk laying his head down on it.
"Uh let me think." That beautiful smile of his was replaced with a thoughtful expression and I took a small sigh of relief. Seeing him smile like that any longer would have probably sent me into cardiac arrest.
And believe me, I wasn't exaggerating.
"Okay let me tell you about it." He rose up from his position on the desk and slouched against his fancy looking office chair.
I nodded my head as a way of saying 'I'm listening'. I didn't trust my voice enough to speak up and tell him, because internally- I was screaming my head off.
"So today I had to deal with a few mishaps. I had to break up a few fights, Xalia and Asher couldn't stop bickering as per usual, and I really need sleep and a shower." He groaned.
"It sounds like you had a rough day, are Asher and Xalia brother and sister or something?" I asked, eager to learn more about his personal life.
He shook his head at my question.
"No and in my opinion there's definitely some sexual tension between the two of them. They bicker like a married couple but work together very well whenever I need them too." He chuckled.
I laughed lowly at his words, keeping them in mind.
"I remember you telling me about how they work for you, that reminds me of a question I had." I said.
After hearing my words, I saw his body visibly tense, he wasn't very good at hiding his reactions.
"Go on.." He trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck, something that I noticed he did whenever he was uncomfortable.
I decided to settle on a simpler question to steer the subject from where we both knew I was trying to go.
It would be smarter of me to wait for him to slip up or ask him about his job when we get to know each other better.
"How old are you?" I asked him.
The tension in his shoulders seemed to dissipate and that pretty grin of his appeared once again.
"I'm 20, you?" He asked curiously.
"I'm 16 but I'll be 17 in a few months." I answered, trying to keep a straight face as the color drained from his face.
In an instant, he sat up straighter in his chair.
"I..okay uh.." He stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck once again.
It look like he was struggling to find the words to let me down easy.
"I'm kidding, I'm eighteen. I turn nineteen next month though." I laughed.
