The ride to the "pack house" was quiet.
I kept my eyes glued to my window, even though I could feel the man next to me trying to peer into my damn soul.
After a while, we arrived at our destination.
Valen got out of the car and talked to the driver while I opened the car door, standing next to it. I couldn't hear what the driver and Valen were discussing but it seemed to be serious.
I saw the driver hand Valen the keys to the car before nodding and walking away.
I shifted my gaze to the house in front of me and my brain began to hurt with all the questions that were swimming through it.
In front of me stood a regular, yet huge, two..or three story house.
I heard a lot of talking and yelling but no one sounded hurt or like they were being sold to the highest bidder. It just sounded like kids playing outside and I deducted that they must be in the backyard of this house or something.
It still didn't provide an answer to any of my questions though.
"Cmon let's go." Valen rounded the car and gently grabbed my hand. For some reason it seemed to fit perfectly with mine.
It felt right.
But if course I paid it no mind.
"Go where Valen?" My patience was hanging on a thin string and it was evident in my tone. "I have questions." I stood my ground, eyes narrowing at the insanely tall man in front of me.
He narrowed his eyes back at me before rubbing his hand down his face and sighing in exasperation.
"I know doll. I know. I brung you here so that I could answer them. I just need you to give me some time, twenty minutes tops." He bent down so that he was eye level with me, those damn eyes of his staring into mine.
"Fine." I gave in after a moment, unable to remain the subject of his overwhelming gaze.
He stood up to his full height once again and started walking to the front door of the house, our hands still intertwined.
When we got to the front porch he spared me a glance. "Don't talk to anyone, the people here can be nosey and intrusive. If anyone crosses any lines -they won't but if they do- I'll handle it. Okay?"
I nodded my head.
We walked into the house and entered a dimly lit hallway.
We walked into another room with couches and coffee tables, it looked to be a living room.
And lots of people were occupying it.
Mainly women.
The room went dead quiet as soon as we entered it and to say I was being stared at would be an understatement. It felt as if everyone in the room was sizing me up and studying me.
I looked around the room and paused my shifting gaze on one woman in particular.
She looked young, maybe twenty or twenty one. She had strawberry blond hair that meshed well with her
pale skin, and her eyes were a light brown.
