TW: Implied assault
"She wont come out." I followed the sound of the commotion and nearly ran into Sakura in the rush. She looked up at me worriedly and picked at her fingers.
"What's happening?" I asked her.
She looked into the small crowd around a door. "Olive locked herself in that room and wont talk to anyone."
"I thought she wasn't supposed to come back to base." I tried to get all the information.
"She wasn't, but-" sakura pointed to Vel, who was closest to the door, trying to coax the vampire out with her words. I noticed something in her hand.
It was one of Olives horns.
"She dropped it before she went into the room." Sakura crossed her arms, worried. "It was broken off."
"Do horns come off naturally?"
"No, horns don't. Antlers do." Sakura started walking toward the door.
Carson also found his way around the corner to see the commotion, and came up to me, watching Sakura join Vel in trying to talk Olive out.
"What's happening?" He asked.
Once I told him he flicked his tail, nervously. "You dont think someone else broke her horn, do you?"
I shook my head "I have no idea."
I saw the door open slightly and Olive peek out. It looked like she'd been crying and she didnt seem to want to let anyone in. Sakura stepped closer and said some things quietly. Olive sniffed and bit her lip, before letting Sakura into the room and closing the door again.
"Tiny fox was successful." Carson nodded approvingly, but something felt wrong to me. It wasnt something with Olive, but rather the base itself. It was buzzing about the riot tomorrow, but I wasnt sure if it was an excited buzz, or a nervous one. Probably a mixture of both, but the word had spread about all that Brianna had shouted before she connected to Percival. People had become afraid; afraid of dying, or getting hurt.
Vel convinced the crowd to disperse and came over to us. "Hey, what can I do for you two?"
"We were just curious about if Olive is okay." Carson glanced behind her at the door once again.
"She asked to talk to Sakura alone, so I am trying to give her privacy." Vel sighed. "She stormed into the base crying and hurt, but no one knows what happened. I believe it was something up at the castle." She gripped her elbows, anxiously. "I hope it doesent have to do with Zachs choice."
"Maybe you can have another Vision? See which path we are taking?" Carson suggested.
Vel shook her head, "it doesn't work like that. My visions are random, not chosen." She chuckled to herself. "I once had a vision about what an old friend would give me for my birthday. I was very disappointed that his surprise was ruined."
"That kinda sucks." Carson agreed.
I started ignoring their conversation, looking at the door, waiting for it to open again and the suspense to abate.
But it remained closed.
"Amber?" Vels voice snapped me out of my stupor, and I looked back at her, startled. "Is something wrong?"
I shook my head. "I dont know, maybe?"
Suddenly, the door opened again. Sakura walked out intently, glaring at the ground. Olive followed her, with a trickle of blood coming from her broken horn, the right one. "Sakura, wait!"
