I opened the door and saw my parents sitting at the kitchen table.

"You two, where were you?" my mom immediately snapped at my brother and I.

"I just picked Naomi up from Brooke's house." my brother tried to cover for us.

My parents may never be home but they always had one very clear rule. No boys for me and no girls for my brother. It was literally horrible. I couldn't even play with boys anymore since fifth grade.

But me and my brother always broke our parents rules. If they are not home they can't keep track.

"You were at Brooke's?" my mom more said than asked. "Well then you won't mind if I call her parents."

Fuck we were screwed. We probably get house arrest and our parents would make sure we didn't go out of the house.

Even though they were almost never there they were very serious about punishment. They will cancel all there business trips just to make sure we stay in the house.

I saw my mom grab her phone and going to brooke's moms contact. But before she could call I had a thought

"But its already so late they'll probably be asleep." I tried to convince my mom.

"Yeah, Brooke's mom said she was super tired." my brother tried to back me up.

My dad hadn't said anything the entire time. He just sat at the kitchen isle observing. It was like that most of the times. In a way we me and my brother had a beter relationship with our mom than dad.

But my mom was a real karen.

"Oh they won't mind, besides you're her best friend." she said thinking it was okay to just call people late in the evening to see if your kids were lying. Somewhere I understood she wanted to see how we were doing but this was just crazy.

My mom clicked the call button and the phone rang. Someone picked up pretty fast but I couldn't hear the conversation. I was thinking about Javon and how our date tomorrow probably wouldn't be possible.

After a couple of minutes my mom hung my mom up and she looked at us with a puzzled expression.

"Looks like you were telling the truth this time."

I was so confused. Why would Brooke's mom back us up. Than I remembered. We had been in this situation once and we changed the contact on my moms phone to Brooke's number. So my mom had spoke to Brooke.

"By the way, kids we are leaving tomorrow and won't return for two months."
