Max POV

Neil woke me up after the movie ended and we both went to his room, our current plan is to wait for his dad and Nikki's mom to get home and go to bed before we leave, so there's no chance of Neil getting caught.
"So, max, why's David adopting Harrison too? His parents didn't seem too bad." Neil asks from the other side of the bed form Max. "They ditched him." I responded, with just a hint of sadness for the guy, he might not be the best, but I guess I can kinda relate to him a little, I mean, before I saw mom's car, I thought my parents were going to do the same to me. "Oh.." Neil responds, he has a small look of pitty on his face, witch I find kind of ironic, considering how much they hated each others guts back at hell- sorry, sorry. camp. I'm thinking about this when Neil gets a text that reads 'sorry bud, we'll be a bit late home tonight, we're... Doing things'

Ignoring how obvious it is what they're doing, I go "Sweet, I can go home now, see ya Neil" and start for the window. "Wait Max!" Neil shouts when I'm already halfway outside of the window. "Yeah?" I respond. "Can I walk you home again?" he asks looking at the ground beneath him "sure" I answer quietly as I slip the rest of the way through the window he follows shortly after and we both start strolling alongside each other. "So," Neil starts, breaking the awkward silence. "Why did your parents sign you up for camp for anyways? And what did they even sign you up for?" He asks, staring intently at Max. " Well..-" Max answers "they kinda just found he worst possible camp to send me to and ditched me so they didn't have to take care of me for the summer. They didn't even sign me up for anything. Or stay around to meet David for that matter. They just left."

There was a long pause before Neil responded. "Oh. .. That sucks." They tur onto the street David's house is on. "Hey, I can take it from here." Max says, trying to edit the conversation. "Oh, alright" Neil responds. "And don't you DARE tell ANYONE what happened today!" Max shouts. "Okay, Max" Neil says, a bit quieter this time, but not enough for Max to notice. Max turns around to continue back to David's house, but he can't get very far before Neil grabs his hand and gently turns him around and gives him a brief hug, he quickly pulls away and says "And you don't have to worry about it all now Max, It'll be okay, because I'm here. " and turns away and starts heading home.
