Ayanokouji and I are standing in front of Kita's dorm. After knocking on her door a few times, Kita emerges from her dorm.
"How many points?"
"5,000. What about you two?"
"Same."
"Well . . . I guess I won't be apologizing for anything then."
The three of us stayed silent for a moment to take in the gravity of the situation.
. . .
"We should probably start walking."
"Huh? Oh, right."
We took the elevator down and then exited the lobby. Afterward, we began walking toward the school.
Earlier this morning, we received our monthly allowance, but we didn't get the full 100,000 points that we started with.
I'm feeling conflicted. On the one hand, I'm glad that I was right and that all the mess we made and have been through was not in vain. On the other hand, I'm starting to dread what awaits us on this day. There's also the fact that the 5,000 points we received might be a mistake, so we can't be too sure that I'm right.
There are also the things that Ayanokouji suggested. The special exams. Class Competition. Plus the possibility of a class ranking. All of them can't be confirmed by the lack of points we have received. We have to wait until someone from the school confirms it.
I looked at my friends. Kita's face is deadly serious. She must be thinking about what to say later. Ayanokouji, on the other hand, seems strangely calm compared to the two of us. If he's feeling as anxious as us, he's doing a pretty good job hiding it.
None of us spoke until we were near our classroom. As we got closer, I noticed no noise coming from our class.
It was quiet . . . too quiet.
From the opposite direction, we can see the figure of Chiyabashira-sensei walking toward us. We quickly entered the class.
Inside, most of our classmates are murmuring with each other. However, when Kita entered the room, everyone was looking at her. Kita didn't react to this and quickly headed to her desk. Ayanokoji and I also went to our desks.
A few seconds later, the bell rang, and Chiyabashira-sensei entered the classroom holding a rolled-up poster. Every student suddenly went silent.
"Alright, morning homeroom is starting. Are there any questions before we start? If there's something on your mind, feel free to speak up."
At first, no one in the class raised their hands. If I had to guess why, most of them are probably afraid to confirm their suspicions. However, two hands began to rise. It was Hirata's and Kita's.
"yes, Hirata?"
"Chiyabashira-sensei. Can you tell us why we only got 5,000 points this month?"
"I'm sure most of you already know the answer to that, Hirata."
A feeling of dread swept over most of the class. However, Kita decided to stand up.
"With all due respect, Chiyabashira-sensei. I think we need a formal explanation. Especially since you dodged my question before."
Damn, I didn't expect Kita to be this serious. For a moment, she and Chiyabashira-sensei engaged in a brief staring contest.
"I believe I already gave that explanation, Kita. You do have a recording of our first day, do you not?"
"Don't be so cruel, Sensei. Most of them still can't comprehend the situation they are in. You should put them out of their well-deserved misery."
The student who said that was no other than Koenji, who seemed to be the only one enjoying this.
