Huey was outside smoking taking a breather from Ebony's stories. He didn't know if he could take any more of Ebony's story.Jazmine was homeless and couldn't get a job because she was pregnant.
Ebony and Nicole were nice enough to take her in as one of their own. They were able to provide a roof over her head, get her a job, and made sure she had a safe pregnancy.
Jazmine was able to fit in naturally, and many people liked her.
He didn't like how she moved on from him but he knew he didn't have room to talk. He was messing around with a lot of women because he was mad that she left him and backed out of the marriage.
He was under the influence that it was over between them.
Huey hated himself for hurting Jazmine. He wondered if Jazmine actually tried reaching out to him more than once.
From Ebony's perspective, Jazmine was moving on with her life even when she was sick. She had the courage to start dating again which hurt him inside.
He knew he fooled around with women but Jazmine wasn't the type that was looking for a man to fool around with. Tyrone probably knew that and made an attempt to be with Jazmine.
He could barely find any woman he liked and he sadly made an exception with Adaline because she looked like Jazmine. She was a bonus because she also had the same dreams as Jazmine which made it easier for him.
But it wasn't the same!
When Ebony was talking about Tyrone he had gotten jealous of Tyrone. He didn't like he was trying to get with Jazmine when she was pregnant with his child. He didn't like that he would kiss Jazmine, possibly go to her ultrasounds, and rub her belly that had his child in there.
He just envied him because he had taken the place he wanted. He wanted to be with Jazmine through her pregnancy and have a connection with Huelene.
He wanted to be with her through her ultrasounds, mood swings, morning sickness, low sex drive, picking names, shopping for baby items, and making sure she and Huelene were protected.
He just felt like Ebony, Nicole, and Tyrone just took his place that he didn't know he had.
Huey heard the door open from behind him and he looked behind to see Huelene. He put out his cigarette and then greeted Huelene: "Hey Hue."
"Hey, Huey!" Huelene greeted back.
She stood next to him and sighed.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"From what?" he asked confused.
"From what my mom told you," she replied.
"Yeah I'm okay," he lied.
"Are you sure, 'cause that's a lot to handle and she hasn't even made it to the end yet," Huelene pointed out.
"I'm fine Huelene!" Huey spoke a little irritated.
Huelene could sense that her father didn't want to talk about what Ebony told them and she decided to change the topic.
"Huey?" she asked as Huey directed his attention towards her.
"Yes?" he asked.
"What made you want to marry my mother?" Huelene asked.
"I was in love with her!" he simply answered.
"Yeah, but when did you know?" Huelene asked.
"I've always known," Huey answered again causing Huelene to get irritated.
