It was the day that Olly was due to go to America for the second time in a year so much had happened since the first time, although he was in love the first time round, he was far more settled and wasn't scared about his future. He knew he had to spend 2 months away from his perfect family, but they knew and he knew that he was doing it for the right reasons and they had every faith that he would succeed. Lis was a week off her seventh month of pregnancy and she was blooming and looked very well. She hadn't had any trouble with her health since she was in the hospital and her recent scan showed the baby was progressing nicely, it even managed to stick a thumb up for the picture. Olly and Lis wanted everything to be perfect before he came back. The nursery was decorated, the pram and car seat were bought, the cot was all put together, no expense was spared. Olly and Lis stood in the baby's room with their arms around each other "well babe I think we done good, it's all done" Olly said exhaustively. "Yep, thanks for working so hard, at least you'll have nothing to do when you get back now" Lis smiled. "They'll be picking me up soon for the airport" he said sadly. "I know babe, you got everything together?", "Yes think so, can you just..." "check, yes sure" she responded kissing his lips.
"Hey boys, dad has got to go, you need to look after your mum ok, you need to help her so much because I've got to go away for a little bit, and you need to listen to her ok, because there will be bigs presents" Olly said to the boys giving them a hug. "And Lis, come here, you might need to get a few more bits for the baby and the boys, here, here's my card just get what you want", "Olly I don't need it" Lis stubbornly refused, "No it's my baby too and I wanna look after you". "OK babe" she finally relented. With that Olly left kissing his family, it was more emotional for Olly leaving rather than Lis, she shouted "It'll be ok, I trust you" as he walked to the car, he ran back to her kissing her "that was my worry that you wouldn't trust me", "babe, if I didn't trust you then I wouldn't be here, as your fiancee and about to have your baby, you need to go I love you, just go" she said. "I love you Lis" he said kissing her soft lips one more time before departing, the boys waved at him and Lis smiled and nodded as the car drove off.
Olly arrived at the airport, calm and relaxed not usual for him as he is usually anxious when he flys, but not today, not now he knows he has got a job to do, fulfill his dream and look after the perfect family that he has longed for his entire life. He sat on his flight with his band, had some of his usual banter and had a constant smile on his face, he was missing his family but he had to enjoy the experience he was being given. He has been given a second chance in both personal and professional lives.
Lis was working from home alot lately, she got tired very quickly and travelling to and from work was taking it's toll on her. Olly called her daily but she didn't realise that she was going to miss him as much as he did. "Ring Ring" her phone called at more or less the same time every day "hi babe", "hey, so nice to hear your voice" she responded, "you ok hun? you sound down" Olly responded. "Yeh I'm just fed up, don't mind me how's the tour going, Sarah told me you've had a great response" Lis tried to change the subject. "Yep they are crazy here, thanks babe such an experience and I can't wait to take you back with the kids next time" he said encouragingly. "You deserve it babe, so nice to hear your voice, thats cheered me up amazingly" she smiled. "All down to you hun, you deserve to be here, I hope you have been looking after my little ones", "Of course babe, hang on door bell going" Lis said. "Hello" a female voice said "Faye... it's Faye" she said speaking into the phone and inviting her and Louie in, "do you wanna speak to you brother, he's on now" Lis continued. "Sure, hey Ols how are ya?" Faye asked, "Hi Faye, is everything sorted yeh?", "Yes we are all fine" she feigned. "Make sure you get whatever she needs, no expense spared", "Yep Louie is doing really well thanks, Ok I'll pass the phone back" Faye said passing the phone back. "Hey I've gotta go babe, take care and I'll call you tomorrow, love you" Olly said. "Ok hun, I'll see you soon, love you too".
"Really nice to see you Faye" Lis spoke softly giving her a hug. "Right no relaxing missus, we're going out shopping, come on" Faye always knew how to cheer up Lis. "Ok, 2 secs let me just get ready". Faye drove Lis to babyworld, she got Louie out of the car and Lis waddled out oh her seat, "Oh I had forgotten how tired you get" Lis laughed. "Yes I know, come on I need to get something for my niece or nephew". They ended up having lots of laughs, "here what about this" Faye picked up a blanket, "Oh thats cute, lets get it, Olly did say I could use his card...", "Let's do it then, right we'll have some of these and this and this" Faye began picking up random things. "Faye I don't wanna take advantage" Lis said, "look he gave you his card, he wants you to, if he says anything just tell him that I told you to" Faye said sternly. Lis relented "Ok you win". They ended up spending a fortune on Louie and the baby. Faye drove Lis home, she was shattered, Faye helped Lis with her bags and bought Louie into the house.
"Suuurrrrpppprrriiissseee!!", there was a crowd of women in her house. Lis' mum and sisters, Dawn, Frankie and Tina, Tara and many of her work friends and some mums from school. "Wow, I don't know what to say" Lis said. "It's a baby shower" someone shouted out. "Well whoever organised this well thank you" Lis got emotional. " Well it was Olly's idea..." Faye said, Lis interrupted "seriously?, oh what a gem". "But seriously guys, thank you all for coming and putting everything together and the spread and the cake...." Lis went off on one. "Lisa just sit down will you?" her mum said. She had a great time catching up with everyone, she got some presents, she was happy. She went outside to send a text to Olly "Thank you for the suprise babe, I love it". Instantly a message come back "Glad you did, you deserve it xx". The shower went really well. Everyone could tell that Lis was tiring, so people left one by one. She slept pretty well that night.
She hung up the clothes that were purchased and that were bought for her, she smiled to herself, she had everything ready in the nursery. "Right gotta tackle this house now" she said to herself, she was nesting, cleaning everything from top to bottom, Olly was due home at the end of the week and everything had to be perfect. She cleaned for the next few days, all bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms and the study.
She wasn't due for another 2 weeks and Olly was due to arrive in the evening, Lis woke from her interrupted nights sleep, she couldn't get comfortable and so she got up and did her day to day duties, took the boys to school and started on the cleaning. "oooo... ahhhh" she started feeling a few twinges. "Just practice ones, I'm not due for another 2 weeks" she tried to calm herself down. A couple of minutes later the same twinges occurred "hmm I think it's started". She called Olly, he was asleep "ring ring", "Er hello?" he said sleepily not realising who it was, "babe it's started, my contractions have started, oooww" Lis said down the phone. Olly shot out of bed "Oh shit, ok I'm going to try and get an earlier flight", "babe don't worry it's only just started it'll probably be ages", "no I'll get Sarah to organise it" he insisted. "Sorry I woke you, oooohhh, sorry just had another one", "babe I'm glad you called, I'll be there soon, I'll give you a call in a bit so I can let you know everything". "Ok I'm just going to have a bath to relax myself". "Ok, I'll see you in a bit, love you". They hung up the phone.
Olly was getting stressed, he thumped on Sarah's hotel door. She opened it dazed "Oh hey Olly..." he interrupted her "I need an earlier flight, Lis, she's gone into labour, I don't care how much it costs, just get me home". "OK Olly, calm down, we will get you home". He twiddled his thumbs whilst Sarah made some calls.
