My family always sets aside time so that we can talk about our days and whatever else we need to talk about. Normally, it's quite casual.

Tonight, however, it started differently.

My mom usually cooks dinner, way before my dad gets home from work. You see, my mom's a housewife and my dad's a lawyer.

He always manages to come home a bit after seven o'clock, although his work finishes at four o'clock. That didn't rub us the wrong way before this but everything was so different, now.

My mom called us to the dinner table and we all sat down.

My sister Talia, my brother Johnathan and I,  Kathryn, opposite her. She had an almost peculiar smile on her face.

"Mom, what's going on? Where's dad?" My brother asked her.

"Your dad's not going to be here, anymore." She said.

"What do you mean by that?" My sister questioned her, in turn.

"Well, I found out he was cheating on me. With his secretary, much less." Mom responded with slight disgust.

We all somehow managed to question at the same time -

"Are you sure?" John asked.

"That's not true. Is it?" Tallie said with a shocked tone.

"How do you know for sure?" I questioned with a raised brow because it was shocking, to say the least.

"What do you mean by that, Kat? Did you know?" My mom asked as she glared at me, the smile she had on long ago back on.

"Of course, I didn't. Why would you ask me that?"

"Hmm...Okay, I believe you. He's a lying piece of shit, that bastard. Don't you guys find it weird that the firm closes at four, yet he's always arriving home at seven?" My mom asked us, sitting up straight in her chair and clasping her hands on top of the table.

We all thought about it and we did find it very weird.

"So, what you're saying is...he cheats during that time?" I asked her.

"Yes, I even have proof!"

"What proof, mommy? What are you talking about?" Tallie asked her.

"I decided to surprise him at his office today. He forgot his lunch so I wanted to give it to him. I thought he would have been hungry. I guess I was the one who got surprised, oh God!" My mom started to drag her hands through her hair. She only does that when she's stressed, angry, or hurt.

"Mom, I'm so sorry. Did you see them together?" Tallie asked her with a sympathetic look.

"Of course, I saw them! They were leaving the building together holding hands and she dared to be laughing with a married man, much less." She spat at us.

"Did they see you?" John asked her, he was quiet throughout most of this entire ordeal.

"No, they didn't. Why do you ask that?"

"Hmm, I'm just curious."

"Mom, where is dad?"

"Well, he's probably at the bottom of a ditch somewhere, by now." She grinned.

We all stared at her in a sort of horrified shock.

"I'm kidding, unfortunately. He's at a hotel somewhere. I told him not to come back here because he has betrayed this entire household. It's disgusting to even think about."
