My school happened to finish earlier today, due to the fact that there was no running water available in the school's bathrooms. This occured fairly often and the Ministry of Education decided that they'd use the latter hours of the school day to look into the problem and find a solution for it. I was actually very excited because that meant I could go home, relax and watch my favourite shows after eating a snack.

Talking and walking with my close friends, some of them said that they'd use the rest of the school day to go out liming to meet their significant others, after contacting them asking if they wanted to do so. I didn't have a boyfriend because I wasn't allowed to and I didn't want one as I was only in 3rd form.

While they were saying this, they asked me if I could ask my mother if I would be able to join them but, to be honest I had a strong desire to go home. I knew she'd say no and I communicated to them this but they didn't believe me. I texted my mother to let her know what was going on and she didn't take that long to respond as it was her lunch break.

I typed and she responded;

Hey, mom.

I'm sorry, sweetpea. I don't want you to be home by yourself but I'd rather you home and where I'd know you're safe. You know I won't be home until much later...
If you got any homework, complete it and leave it on the table for me to check, don't forget.

*whispers* Thanks for saying no lol. I didn't want to go out w/ them. They said to ask for permission but ik you'd say no but they didn't believe me.

...

Okay, bye. I have to go back to work.
I love you😘!

Lol😭

Bye, mama.
I love you, too🥰💘!!!

Telling my friends an, "I told you so..."

We snickered and travelled in a group into the hustle-bustle crowd that gathered at the gate to rush out of them. There were boys outside, seemingly waiting on their significant others, and I saw multiple girls from my all girls' school walking up to them and off they went together laughing and talking.

I made sure that I saw that Andréa and Kia met up and left with their boyfriends, after I greeted them, before I started on my perilous journey to the bus stop stationed about five hundred to one thousand feet away, in a nice shaded area. It felt like the sun was tearing off my skin, and leaving it feeling scorched like I'm meat on a grill.

They called out, as they linked their hands with their boyfriends and left with each other, "Bye, Ryn!"

I just waved over my shoulder as I walked up the hill, not even bothering to turn and face them. After arriving, I was sweating in drolls with my uniform somehow forming to me like a second skin. It was uncomfortable. Thankfully, the bus driver normally had on his A/C so I was counting on its cooling relief today. I entered the bus with some other school children and settled into a seat for the long journey.

It was finally came to my stop, so I came off the bus and I waved goodbye to some acquaintances that I knew, from other schools.

Walking into my front yard after coming off of the school bus, I noticed that I didn't see my mother's white vehicle in the driveway. That means that she's probably still at work, as she stated earlier, and she won't be back until much later. She works at the hospital as a nurse, her shifts start a bit after I've gone to school and it ends extremely late at night. It was really hard to become accustomed to her busy schedule but I've dealt with it for years now, so I set a routine for myself.

Letting myself into the house with the key that I owned thst was placed on my key-ring, my exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks but my hunger also creeped in like a thief in the night, and my stomach realeased a loud growl. For this reason alone, my bag let out a thud as it collided with the floor as I dropped it. I decided to get myself a snack so I went into the kitchen, and started to make a chicken sandwich. Eating the simple sandwich, it was simply delicious.

I was thinking about something when suddenly I heard a sound. How was it possible?

My mom called out my name, "Ryn!"

Wasn't my mom supposed to be at work? When I went, she wasn't there. I knew it was a trap!

Instead of her, it was a dark force. As the formless matter rushed towards me all I heard was chilling laughter, which sounded exactly like hers. I realized that I made a grave mistake.

Word to the wise? Never, ever answer the first call.

You won't be sure who you answer to.
