Chapter 11 - The town

The guard was unusually close to Bella. He clasped her hands and his smile was giving away his sinister thoughts.

" I mean , of course you can get in sweetheart! But for me to let you in like that so easily without a reward,huh... It isn't fair right?"
His word were creepy and expressions were creepier.

" Uhmmm,.....i .......well...."
Poor Bella was at a loss for words.

" Wait a minute, what reward are you talking about? "
Maya asked while taking his hands off her sister.

" Oh, nothing much! It's just that i was wondering if I could get a date with this pretty lady right here."
He said pointing at Bella.

" I get off duty at 5:00 pm . By any chance, are you busy by then? Don't worry. I don't bite. I promise i don't have any ulterior motives."
He said while smiling a big smile which wasn't very pleasant. It was clear he was already planning something .

Oh my god, the one on my right is so hot that I might melt . If i get her ..., Yeah i will call my friends over too. But should i share such a good one? .........
Aaaahhh , just thinking about it makes me hard.
The guard's head was already filling with fantasies about Bella.

Maya stepped up to his level and looked him straight in the eye and said:
" Listen mister, your words and expressions give away your motives and looking at you , it looks like you do more than just bite. And by the way , my sister is an engaged woman so keep your filthy eyes away from her."
Maya searched in her bag and then took out a 100 aikan* note and slammed it onto his desk .

" Here, your fee for the gate check . We are not going in by your favour or something."
Maya hissed at him. She dragged Bella with her inside the gates.

" Maya , thank you, you saved me ! "
A still scared Bella said as she hadn't been touched by men before except their father and August.

" No problem. But you! You are really a scaredy cat . Why couldn't you say something back to him . Sometimes I wonder what would you do if left alone.
I pity Edward because after marriage maybe most of his time will be spent taking care of you."
Maya replied in an annoyed tone.

" Don't say that Maya . You know i am bad at this stuff. Plus i wouldn't know if he was really interested in me or bluffing."
Bella tried to defend herself but it ended up proving the same thing that Maya said.

" I know ,plus he was creepy as hell . I mean he looked like he had fathered nine children already and his stupid wide black eyes .....ewww DISGUSTING! "
Maya spoke while she snorted the last part.

" But , Maya , what if he came back to exact revenge or something? "
Bella asked in a shushed manner.

" Oh , sis . Don't worry! I am sure he knows better than that "
Maya replied while cracking her knuckles.

Suddenly Bella was pushed forward a bit due to a slight push from a passerby.
It's only then they realised that they had walked right in the middle of the streets.

There were people everywhere. Some were shopping at a jewellery shop placed on the floor. Some people shopped for the colourful clothes hung neatly on a rack at a nearby store. Some were pedestrians,just walking around the market. Others basically sat around at the corners under trees chatting with friends.
However there was no one with a frown or a sad expression.

Everyone had smile on their faces . From the shopkeepers to the customers to the pedestrians to the chatters sitting under the trees. There was no sign of any arguments taking place even with the shopkeepers and buyers.
What was even more strange was that the town , was so busy that there people and carriages going around from different directions. There was a lot of hustle bustle on the street.
Yet, The 'noises' still made Maya feel calm. It was strange because there wasn't much population in their village so they should have been nervous being around so many people but they were not.

" Woah , the town got so much busier than when we last came here, isn't it beautiful?"
Bella asked as she gazed at the sunlit market in awe.

" Yeah , it sure is "
Maya nodded looking around.
A smile graced her lips looking at the lively streets in front of her

" Okay , enough woah-ing , now let's hurry and get to uncle's house as soon as possible.
We also need to go back before nightfall."
Bella reminded a dazed Maya.

Before Maya could say something, Bella grabbed her and started rushing through the crowds ; to their uncle's house.
