Chapter 9 - A loved one's gift .

Maya had rushed out of the house to go to the riverbank. Once she got there, she didn't take long to find the two lovebirds sitting under a tree happily chatting.

She simply couldn't waste this opportunity now, could she? Maya sneakily crept up behind the bushes and waited for the right moment.
1......2......3..now!

"Booooooooooo......!"
Maya screamed as she popped out of the bushes.

"Ahhhhhhhh ughhhh"
"Kyaaaaaaaaahhhhh"

The collective screams of both the man and the woman were heard.
The man was so shocked that he tried to get away on his knees but failed and ended up falling face first on the rocky ground.

"Edward!"
Bella yelled while Edward was down on the ground, groaning painfully.
Bella lifted his face up and caressed his cheek while frantically checking for injuries.

" It's fine , Bella .I didn't really slam my face so it is just a scratch.
Don't sweat it, kay?"
Edward reassured her.

Maya who was the cause of this suddenly felt guilty and obliged to apologise. But before she could open her mouth , her sister had started talking again.

" No! It isn't, it was such a terrible fall! Where does it hurt Edward? Maybe i could massage it to ease the pain a bit."
Bella knew it had to hurt somewhere after such a fall and couldn't really see him in pain.

" Oww ughhh... Maybe here? But don't feel bad , it isn't anything serious , okay?"
Edward once again assured her that he was fine. Bella was worried and he couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction.

Edward grabbed her face and planted a kiss on her forehead.
" Shhhh, now why are you so stressed when I told you i am fine?
I fell because of my silliness so there's nothing for you to feel bad for, hmmm? "
Edward asked while comforting her.

The two had locked eyes and we're completely in a daze. They were oblivious of their surroundings. But that is not what's important, they were TOO CLOSE!

" Ewww,now what? Are you really gonna kiss?
Then please take this affection somewhere else because it's disgusting to watch! "
Maya ( the real culprit) who was being ignored the whole time exclaimed making a disgusted face.

Bella and Edward snapped out of whatever trance they were in , blushing furiously.

" You....you! What is this Maya? Poor Edward got such a bad scare ! Why did you do this? "
Bella yelled at Maya still blushing the same shade.

"Well you were taking long enough here chatting that you forgot we need to leave for the town and mainly because........i was bored ."
Maya spoke in a couldn't care less fashion.

" But , why would you-"

"It's okay Bella, it's not like i got injured plus i think she was just playing around."
Edward tried to calm a now angry Bella.

" Yeah ,and first of all , why did you have to meet so early in the morning? Besides aren't you two going to get married tomorrow?
What is the rush then? , you can have a year's worth of kisses afterwards!"
Maya spoke as if she was so done with this scenario.

Upon hearing the words , the two lovers were as red as a tomato.
Unable to hide his red face anymore, , Edward took their leave and started running off towards the village.

" Oh! Look , there he goes! Aren't you gonna give him like a BYE BYE KISS?
Maya asked Bella teasingly in a babyish voice emphasizing the last part.

Poor Bella could not  blush any redder.
Maya hugged her sister and let out a silly giggle.
They then started to walk off towards the carriage.

" But seriously though, why'd you meet a day before the wedding?"
Maya could not help but be curious.

" Well , it was certainly important. Edward had last told me to meet him today here. He said he wanted to give me something."

" Really, what was it ?"
Maya asked with curiosity

Bella slightly lowered the frills of her sleeve to reveal a dazzling silver bracelet with a green emerald embedded.

" He spent nearly a year's worth of salary on this including his first pay.
But his love and passion in this is what makes it so special."
Bella giggled and spoke with a dreamy look in her eyes.

Maya couldn't help but feel so warm seeing her sister glad . She was really happy that her sister had found a direction in life. And someone who valued and loved her just like her own family.
Maya jumped on Bella giving her the tightest hug she had ever experienced.

" What was that for? You almost choked me ! "
Bella who was still catching her breath huffed in annoyance.

" Nothing, just felt like it. Anyways, did you pack the stuff? , Mom said you already have the necessities."

" Yeah , here in the bag , we won't be needing much "
Bella said pointing at her bag that was hanging from her shoulder.

"Yeah, let's get this thing done with, because miss perfect is impatient to be with mr.groom and ki-"
Before Maya could complete her sentence, Bella smacked her back so hard that Maya felt as if her heart had been thrown out.

Both the sisters finally sat in the carriage after some sibling banter.
While both of them spent the first few minutes laughing and giggling at Maya's terrible jokes , they soon fell asleep because of the lack of rest from the past few days.

When they woke up , a blinding day of sunlight welcomed them. They were unaware that their time here won't be as easy as they thought it was.
