Chapter 17- The town....again?

      The corridors of the Demon realm Royal Palace echoed with the sound of footsteps. The man who walked in the darkness of the pitch black night had also covered himself with a dark cloak.
      His steady footsteps came to a halt on reaching a door.He slowly turned the knob and the door creaked open.
As soon as he got in , the man was on his knees bowing down to a significant person sitting before him.
     The room lit only by a small candle only showed a silhouette of the person sitting on the chair with a royal posture. This man was none other than the infamous General Shen.

      " May the King live long!"
                 The person bowing down exclaimed. And a small smirk could be felt on General Shen's face.

      " Good! Seems like you know who the real king is, Mr.Todd. Now bark!"
      General Shen ordered.

    " Sir, I've employed my best men for this purpose. We just have to wait for the coronation ceremony. As soon as they get an opportunity, they will fire.
That Prince August doesn't have any chances of survival."
       Mr Todd replied quite scared.

    " Hmmmm, what makes you think that killing the prince would be the most beneficial? Won't the citizens catch an air of who could be behind this? And any thing that will be connected to me can bring me down.
     Do you think i should take the risk then?"
      General Shen asked him mockingly.

     " Sir, rest assured. I have hired the most skilled assassins possible. They will not let you down. I promise that the Prince will be weeded out of your way in no time.
You are the only suitable king given how long you have served this kingdom. Your hardwork will be rewarded and i will make sure of that!"
      Mr.Todd said with determination.

     General Shen slowly got up and kneeled down to face him.
    
      " You sure say things that me happy but are you sure you can pull a perfect crime or is this all just mere lip service ? I presume you know what the consequences will be if you fail, huh? "
     General Shen said while smiling maliciously.

      " Yes! Sir. I take full guarantee of this plan. You will not fail. "
      Mr.Todd who shivered under his gaze somehow breathed out.

     General Shen got up and sat on his chair.

     " Sir, forgive me for being nosy, but why did you specifically choose the coronation ceremony? You could have assassinated him at any other time.!"
     Mr.Todd asked General Shen cautiously.

      " Hmm, seems like you don't know August. That kid has the same genes as his stupid father. He is on alert even while sleeping. What do you think, i haven't tried killing him before? Just like i killed -"
     General Shen stopped speaking and glanced at Mr.Todd.

    " You don't need to know that. Just know that August's weakness, his cousin brother Kyle and his family are  coming tomorrow. August may be super cautious for himself but when he's around Kyle , he forgets himself. He is more cautious for his health than his own.
This opening is our opportunity. Just let Prince Kyle be my good luck charm this time. Once i am done with him, i will finish him off too."
      He spoke out harshly.

 
     He turned towards Mr.Todd and threw a small pouch towards him.

     " Here, the 3000 aikan as promised , now get out!"
    
     Mr.Todd grabbed the pouch and scurried through the door.
     
  General Shen continued staring out the window.

     " Just wait , Prince August. You'll see soon what your fate has in store for you!"
      Just thinking about it made a vicious smile appear on his face.

      Maya was bored . She was lazing around on the bed .It had already  been 3 days since Bella's wedding.
    The house felt so empty. Everyone was already missing Bella, specifically Maya as she was alone at home. Their parents worked as helpers to the merchant in a nearby village.
So most of the time, it was just Bella and Maya fooling around the house.
       Now that Bella was not here she felt lack of motivation and lazy. Maybe because she didn't really have anything better to do.

      Maya was laying down on the bed when her mother  Elma burst through the door smiling.

     " Huh? Ma? What happened?"
              A really shocked Maya asked her mother sitting up.

      " Oh , Maya haven't you been getting bored lately? I have the perfect solution for you."

     " Oh , what? How ?"
           A very confused Maya asked her mother.

     " Listen, you know that Jane is pregnant right? Her husband, and father in law go to work right? So your aunt Jay just sent a letter asking if you would like to go there to keep Jane company and take care of her.
   Not only that Jane said that they are looking for some personal assistants for the royal ladies. And she has signed you up for it. So this way you can keep busy "
      Elma exclaimed.

    " But-"

    " No buts . Jane has already signed you up because i told her to. You cannot back down. Plus , do you plan to reject a pregnant lady's wishes?"
     Her mom asked her.

      There it was ! The emotional blackmail. Of course,her mom had always nagged her about not doing a single thing. So she probably wouldn't let this chance go right?
However maybe it was better than nothing. Plus she gets to live in the big town . So maybe it's not that bad.

      After thinking about it a bit she said yes.

     " Hey! Ma! What position did you sign me up for? "
      Maya asked with curiosity about her job.

   " Personal assistant for the Royal ladies."
    Elma replied shouting from the other room as she was packing Maya's stuff.

     Hmmmm. Personal assistant huh? Well it's okay . At least it's not a maid. and given her background, it was a perfect position, so she wasn't much bothered by it.

     So after waving her mom and dad goodbye, Maya was aboard a carriage to the town. Filled with thoughts about the new life in the town.
She was going so far away from her family that it felt wierd. She was already missing them. Oh how she wished Bella was with her so she could guide her.

    After a long journey, before noon , Maya had already set foot in the town. She was nervous, excited and determined regarding her stay in the town.
Little did she know that her fate would turn so many times. She honestly did not expect a certain someone to appear like a tornado and wreak havoc in her happy single life.
She was unaware of the pain, suffering, happy moments that were about to come to her.

       The Matthews door was knocked and Maya was greeted by a smiling face.

     " So, here again?"
      Jane asked jokingly.

    " Yes, here again!"
         Maya giggled.
