Chapter 4 - Losing Someone

"You ask me to stop worrying, but I can't be unbothered when my life is falling apart, Master!.You know I can't lose another guardian.!"

August Sav is the son of the current Demon lord Driman Sav.
Blessed with magical powers, immortality, fighting skills and medicinal knowledge obtained by his teacher Lord Saash.
He is the next in line to ascend the throne.

Lord Saash and August's mother Lady Vienna were cousins, however due to a divine being marrying a demon , both August's mother and father lost their immortality. Lady Vienna ended up passing away unable to bear humanly environment and atmospheric consequences.

Lord Driman had been in poor health ever since his wife's death.
In these difficult times , Lord Saash had been practically raising August which was a fact known to few. due to the palace lacking a proper control, General Shen had taken control of the court matters.

Little August was going through a lot of stress since childhood that made him cold , distant and anxious only letting his vulnerable side out in front of a few people including Lord Saash and his best friend Theo Ethan's.

Lord Saash was basically a Father figure for August. However the stone faced prince had recently faced another tragedy- his father had passed away a few weeks ago. To be honest he missed him so much he cried alone in his father's room, remembering his presence.

He hadn't told this unfortunate news to anyone predicting that a major chaos would break out and since they are in a vulnerable state there was a risk of attacks . Especially considering the situation now , nothing could be impossible.

Remembering that Lord Saash was still unaware of the reason for his sudden emotional breakdown, August regained his posture knowing he can't give off any sad vibes and let Lord Saash know. He would be more disheartened than anyone.

"Whatever you do, at least you could have discussed with me first!" August said now wiping his eyes and trying to sound normal.

Lord Saash hugged him again, smirking at August's adorableness.
" Really? When did my little boy grow up so big that he wants to discuss political affairs with me?" He asked ruffling August's hair.

"I am not a kid , I am 224 years old already."
August replied dryly.

" By the way, how did you know those were mortals?"
Lord Saash asked appearing serious.

" Hmm , on the way here I encountered some more soldiers but they died with a single hit so I examined them myself, turned out they were humans disguised as demons."

" Oh , but why would they try to trick us like that? What good would it do to humans to team up with demons , their enemies?" Lord Saash asked again confused at the situation of enemies pairing.

" No! , It was definitely not a move from the humans , you know that General Shen has been interfering in social policies; this is probably a trick of him trying to taint the royal demon family name. He's trying to prove that our rule is unfair.
Definitely has his eyes on the throne!"
August said now a bit irritated at the disgusting length General Shen could go to have the throne now that the king had died.

" I knew he was a good for nothing , but even disgracing the demon clan is just ...... uhh , I am speechless! "
Lord Saash was dumbstruck at the sheer greed the general in question had.

" You don't worry, Master , I assure you I won't let that man ever be successful in his intentions."
August replied sensing Saash's stress about the event.

" That I believe in you, Son, Now let's head back before anyone sees us together!"

" Take care , Master ! "
August bid goodbye to Lord Saash who disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

August too now had now vanished in the thin air .
