Chapter 17

I watch Sadia at her lunch table as I sit at mine. It looks like she's arguing with Hailey. I notice Jason is sitting beside Hailey. He's never sat at their table before.

I turn to Rani. "Didn't you tell Jason not to even look at Sadia?"

She nods and glances at Sadia's table.

Her gaze hardens and she starts to stand."That piece of shit."

"What did Jason do?" Riley asks looking at Sadia's table.

I grab Rani's hand and pull her down. "It's not for us to tell." Sadia might not want people to know.

I continue watching Sadia. She finally stands up and starts walking away clearly upset. Jason looks to say something to Hailey before standing up and following Sadia. Some brunette guy from their table gets up and follows them as well.

Me and Rani look at each other and without a word quickly stand up, he shouldn't even be around her. "We'll be back." I say before we quickly follow them.

We exit the commons just in time to see Sadia go into the empty classroom I always pull her in, Jason follows her in the guy behind him. We hear them talking as we get closer it becomes clear as to what's being said.

"I want to apologize." Jason says. I cringe, why would she accept an apology.

"I will never forgive you!" Sadia yells just as we enter the classroom.

Jason is standing in front of her a good distance away while she's backed into a desk. The guy stands beside Sadia.

"Dude just leave." He says to Jason.

"But I can explain, when it happened I was going through a hard time, my dad had-"

Rani cuts him off by kicking the back of his legs to make him fall to his knees. She then grabs him by his hair. "Are you seriously trying to make an excuse as to why you tried to rape her?!"

I quickly go to Sadia. "Are you ok?" I ask cupping her face, noticing her watery eyes.

She nods.

"I-It's not an excuse. It's the truth." Jason's says. He can't be serious.

"We really don't give a fuck what happened to you there is no excuse for that. Not one, you piece of shit. She will never forgive you. Now leave before I beat your ass." Rani lets go of his hair.

He stands up. "Fine, but I really am sorry, I was drunk." He says to Sadia before leaving with Rani following, as if that'll make Sadia forgive him.

"What happened?" I ask her.

"Hailey is dating him and she doesn't care that he tried to rape me. He literally admitted to it." That's supposed to be her best friend?

I hug her and place a kiss to her forehead. "She's an asshole."

"I want to sit at your table." She mumbles, her head buried in my chest.

"That's fine. I'll get your book bag for you."

I notice the guy that followed them still standing there awkwardly. "If you're ok now, I'll go. I just didn't like the idea of you being alone with him, with what he did. He shouldn't be around you." He says.

She leans back and looks at him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks Max." She says and he leaves. He's the only one that thought to follow them when Jason was following her?

I move away and grab her hand. "You sure you're ok?"

"Yeah, we can leave."

We get out the classroom and find Rani waiting outside the door. Jason and the other guy are nowhere in sight. "Why is he sitting at your table?" Rani asks and follows us as we walk back to the commons.
