Sadia's POV
"So, what are you gonna do about Nima?" My once blonde girlfriend asks, sitting beside me as I stand, shoving sweaty clothes into my cheer bag.
I sigh. "I don't know. I hope I can convince my Baba to let me keep her." I've been waiting for Baba to call, furious at Nima being in the backyard. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to hear his wrath in person.
I'm leaving her outside in hopes that he won't be as mad. I know for sure that he wouldn't stand for a dog in the house but the yard is different, I clean up her shit so there shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, I doubt that's the case.
"If he doesn't I'm sure my moms wouldn't mind taking her in our house. They already offered to let you a place if your dad kicks you out and they know how much Nima means to you."
I smile, my cheeks tingling with warmth. "You don't even like dogs but you'd let Nima stay at your house?" I honestly can't believe that although she is less skittish around Nima than she first was.
"Yeah." She gently grabs my hand and pulls me to stand between her legs. "There's a lot I'd do for you." Her tone is genuine as she grins at me.
With a warm smile, I stare at her, trying not to swoon. I didn't know it was possible to fall harder for her.
I take my hands from hers as I straddle her lap, hands grip my waist to steady me while mine cup her cheeks. I waste no time in pressing our lips together in a tender and passionate kiss disregarding where we are, she doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Luckily the few girls left in the locker room were showering right now.
Not that it matters because our makeout is interrupted shorty by my ringing phone in my back pocket. I groan forcing myself to part my lips from Ari's as she grabs it and hands it to me. I remain seated on her lap as I read the number.
It's my Baba, perfect. I begin to answer it until I realize I shouldn't, not in the locker room. Someone could say something, whether it be about me and Ari or cheer.
I stand up and quickly put my phone back in my pocket. "It's my Baba." I look at Ari
"You're not gonna answer?" She asks brows lowered.
I zip up my bag, having everything in it. "I will when we get in the car." I put on my cheer bag.
"Oh." She mutters and stands, slinging her own bag over her shoulder.
I still have to drop her off, I picked her up and drove her to school today. I couldn't let her stay because I wasn't sure what time Baba and Maman would be showing.
We leave the gym and just as we reach my car my phone rings again. I quickly put my bag in the back seat before answering it as I sit in the driver's seat.
"Hello."
"Where are you?" He doesn't bother to disguise his anger and I can hear Nima's faint barks in the back.
"I-" I pause in thought, I obviously can't say that I'm at cheer practice.
"جوابمو بده!" ("Answer me!")
I flinch at his tone even if it is over the phone. He hasn't spoken to me in nearly a year and this is how he wants our first conversation to be.
I say the first thing that comes to mind. "I'm tutoring." I answer quietly.
My eyes meet Ari's and her brows are furrowed in an angry way, I'm assuming she heard him yell. Seeing how protective she is makes me smile a little.
"Why is there a dog in my backyard? Actually it there is no excuse, you know it's haram. As soon as you get here I want it gone. I don't care where or how."
