Chapter 5

As I'm walking down the hall with Rani we see Jacob in the distance my eyes widen when he gets closer. Holy shit Rani did fuck him up.

His whole face is purple and swollen. Why would he even come to school like that?

His eye widen when he sees us and he stops walking towards us before quickly turning around.

Rani laughs. "What a pussy."

I laugh along. "See you next period." I say once we stop in front of my class.

"Yeah." Rani walks off.

When I walk into my AP History class I see Sadia's already here but the friend that sits beside her isn't yet. I smirk and take the seat.

She looks at me with a frown.

"What are you doing?" She asks.

I put my book bag down. "Sitting by you."

"Madeline sits there."

"It looks like I am." I grin not actually planning to sit here all class.

She rolls her eyes.

"Have you seen Jacob?" I ask seriously.

"No."

"Good." I smile.

I notice our classmates giving us curious looks. Madeline walks in just before the bell rings.

"Get up, freak."

Not wanting to argue I stand up and grab my book bag and go to the back. As I'm walking away I hear her talking to Sadia.

"Why'd you let it sit there?" What did I ever do to her?

Sadia sounds annoyed. "I can't make her move she's her own person." I smile at her emphasizing my pronouns that's kinda sweet.

"Whatever."

I go sit in the back corner seat where I've been sitting by myself. I don't really know anybody in this class.

Eventually the bell rings and Mr.Garner comes in.

"Good morning everyone, as I said last week. You all have a research project due in two weeks. You will have a partner and to prevent hurt feelings Iv'e chose your partner for you." He goes to his desk and sits grabbing a piece of paper and starts calling out partners. I only listen for my name.

A few people start whispering when he says. "Ariel and Sadia." If this would have been before we rekindled I would have been mad but now I'm not too bothered.

I look at Sadia. I can't really read her expression but she doesn't look mad so that's good. I look back at Mr.Garner as he holds up some papers papers.

"These have the instructions on them but if you have any questions ask away. You may switch seats to sit by your partner and use twenty minutes of class time to discuss with them because you won't be working on this in class." He starts passing them out.

Sadia gets up and comes to the back to sit by me.

Mr.Garner gets to us and hands us each a paper.

We have to do research on an assigned president. Ours is Ulysses S. Grant. It must be four full pages of work, it can be typed or written. I'm surprised Sadia isn't complaining but I guess we're kinda friends now.

I feel like I should apologize she probably wanted Madeline to be her partner. "I'm sorry I'm sure you'd rather it be Madeline."

She looks at me and gives me a small smile. "No, I don't like Madeline anyway."
