"That be the reason that you always hit me up I swear-" I hear Aya singing to my music as I pluck my eyebrows. I catch sight of her dancing into MY bathroom in the mirror.
She continues unaware of my glare at her in the mirror. "You like the way I f-"
I cut her off as I turn down the music. "What do you want?"
I watch her roll her eyes as she comes over and hops on my counter in MY bathroom, which is in MY room.
"Can I not come see my favorite sister?"
"No." I answer plainly.
She sucks her teeth. "I was returning your sweatshirt. What are you getting ready for anyway? Hot date?"
"Yes actually." I can't help but smile as I pull the last out of place brow hair and replace the tweezers with mascara. I pause as I realize what she said before that. "My shirt? You took my shirt, which one?"
"The light blue Nike one, it's cute."
I frown, I didn't even know it was missing. I have so many clothes. "You can just have it but stop taking my clothes without asking." If it was something I actually liked I would have assumed I lost it somehow.
"Deal." She smiles but it then falls as she frowns in thought. "So who's the date with because if it's Emma I'll give you a black eye before you go."
I snort as I focus on my lashes. "Why do you care?"
She shrugs. "She's bad for you, even I can see that. Sadia is nice enough."
I hum, appreciating that she cares. "Its with Sadia." I wouldn't like someone treating her the way Emma treated me. It's just harder to feel that way about myself because I love Emma. But I do pity myself a little. I deserve someone like Sadia.
"Good." She crosses her arms, her phone in her left hand as she stares at her feet that dangle above the ground. "I'm joining choir next term." She decides to say.
Aya can honestly sing nice which she gets from mom.
"Will you still play soccer?" I feel like soccer games would overlap with shows.
She looks offended by my question. "Te refieres al fútbol..." (You mean football.)
She says in an accent like Mamá's making me laugh. Somehow Aya and Andra naturally have a slight accent whether they speak English, Spanish, or Portuguese but it isn't as strong as Mamá's of course. Aya really has one when she gets mad though. "But yeah, I'll learn to balance both." She adds."Oh, it's good that you'll be putting your singing to use. Do you know what you want to do after school?" I ask out of curiosity since it's not something we've ever discussed.
She shrugs. "No, not really but I do know that I want to get out of here for college. My Spanish is basically perfect so I could easily go to a universidad in Mexico City or Brazil. Don't tell moms though, I know they wouldn't like that."
I nod in agreement before I finish up my lashes. "Mom would freak out at any of us going that far from home but I think it would be fun. Brazil would be a better option because Mexico can be dangerous but you have plenty of time to decide what you wanna do after school." I put the mascara away.
"Right." She smiles as she stares off at the wall.
She sighs her smile falling a little. "I hate that you're leaving before I start high school."
I smile as I put my makeup away. "You can always call if you need to talk or something. Just don't ask for money."
"It's not the same can't you like... fail one year." She jokes.
