Sadia POV
She walks me to the passenger seat and opens the door for me before making her way around and taking her place behind the wheel. Immediately I remove my hijab and take my hair down, fixing it in the visor mirror, it's still pin straight as I did straighten it.
Ari turns her head and grins at Milo and Rocco as they sit in the backseat. "I love you guys, Mamá should give you a raise."
They both chuckle, I've honestly never seen them look anything but serious. "We love you too kid. Kya pays us more than enough." Rocco assures.
We leave and Ari takes us to her house.
When we've made it we get out and go inside while Milo and Rocco leave. I'm greeted with hugs from everyone. Which is just Ari's moms and her sisters.
Nima is also happy to see me, letting out a howl at the sight of me.
They all tell me Happy Birthday and a warmth feels my heart, they always make me feel a part of the family. They are my family.
I pick up Alora to her request. She always wants me to hold her when I'm around, not that I mind.
"I assume you're finally free from your parents." Kya says
"I am, my Baba didn't take it well unsurprisingly." I answer.
"Come to the kitchen, now we may have went overboard with the presents but I hope you like them all." Aurora says and I follow them all to the kitchen.
I already feel better. Although I can't stop thinking about my Maman, I pray my Baba doesn't hurt her.
I smile at the chocolate cake and all the presents on the counter. It honestly makes me a bit emotional.
"Thank you, you didn't have to." I try not to let my emotion show but my voice cracks.
Kya scoffs. "Of course we did mija."
Ok, now she's tryna make me cry.
"Should we light the candles?" Ari asks me with a smile.
I agree, and that's what we do. I blow out the candles, with Alora's help. The only thing I wish for is my Maman leave my Baba before it's too late.
After, we eat and they let me open all my presents, while Aurora holds Alora to her protest.
It's mostly a bunch of clothes and things I can use while I stay here. Of course that makes me shed a few tears leaving them all to comfort me.
Alora and Andra both gave me a Barbie that looks like me which was pretty sweet. Aya got me a bag of candy, which I'm also thankful for. Who doesn't like candy?
"I have two things for you." Ari says, holding my hand and leading me upstairs.
We get to her room and I wait on her bed while she pulls out a big birthday bag out of her closet. She walks back and sits beside me before giving it to me.
With a smile I pull out the tissue paper.
The first thing I get out is a small jewelry bag. Excitedly I open it to find a gold necklace with Ari's name on it.
I chuckle. "I'm never taking this off. Put it on for me please."
She grins as I hand it to her and I allow her to put it around my neck.
"There's more stuff, keep going." She says eagerly.
I set the the little jewelry bag aside and the next thing I pull out is a small ring box. I open it it, revealing a gold band ring with the same Roman numeral date that's on her necklace.
