Thanksgiving, Christmas and my Birthday came and with each I could definitely see a difference in Sadia. She's gotten better, of course she's still grieving but she doesn't take it out on me anymore.
Farbod was caught in Iran and extradited where he was faced with a sentence of 50 years. They didn't give him life unfortunately but it's close.
Sadia ended up getting a job at Starbucks and I let her use my car. I think that really helped her because she had something to put her mind on.
We won the cheer tournament in April and then we both took a video to submit to KSU. We both got easily accepted to the college with a scholarship for cheer.
"Ariel De'Sacra." The principal calls me up for my diploma.
I grin and go up as I hear my family, friends, and teachers cheering for me. I go up and take it from him and shake his hand before returning to my seat.
I would say it was hard but I did but it really wasn't to be honest. Never studied and still an all A student. Too easy.
I will admit I'm happier than ever, this is the start of me and Sadia's future. It felt like forever but we got into our dream school and soon we'll be moving to the dorms.
I sit and cheer for my friends and Sadia when they are called up.
The Valedictorian speaks at the end and then the principal comes back to the podium and says a few words before congratulating our class.
The band starts playing and we all stand as we toss our hats in the air before catching them.
With my hat in hand I quickly find Sadia.
We both grin and runs into each others arms. "I can't believe it's over." She mumbles into my neck.
I chuckle. "I know right.
She steps back and kisses my lips. "Let's go see our family."
I grin. "Ok." I peck her lips one last time.
We find my family which is my moms grandparents, cousins and my Aunt Layla and Uncle Marcus. Rani is already with them talking to her dads.
I see mom with a teary smile at us as we approach.
"I'm so proud of you girls." Mom says clearly holding back tears as she hugs us.
"Why are you crying?" I ask when we're out of this arm.
"She's been dreading this day since you were born Mija." Mamá says with amusement, Alora in her arms.
Mom wipes at her eye. "Your no longer my baby anymore, soon you'll be leaving for college."
I chuckle. "I'll always be your baby mom."
I am her firstborn. It was just me and her for a few years too.
"And her favorite." Aya says between fake coughs.
Mom rolls her eyes. "I love you all the same."
Me and Sadia take time to talk with everyone, most of them giving us gifts like flowers and their congrats.
Riley, Marissa, Drea and Phoebe eventually come up to us and we all agree to go out and eat for lunch.
"I'm so glad I never have to go back to that shit hole again." Rani says as we're walking to the parking lot after splitting from our families. "I didn't even want to come here like what's up with all the talking just give me my shit."
Me, Riley and Sadia laugh. She isn't lying, it is waste of time but it does make for a good memory.
We take off our gowns before I take us to the restaurant, eat and talk about our plans. It does make me a little sad me and Sadia will be leaving everyone but at least we'll have each other. I also know eventually we'll return to New York and reconnect with them.
