Back in the study room, the servants reluctantly turn in photos of their previous attempts at photoing sebastian, which were unfortunately just blurry blanks.

"We're so sorry, master." Finny speaks sadly to the frustrated child.

"Bu-But Bard thought up a really good plan, yes he did!" Mey-rin quickly assured him, with an air of unease.

"The idea came to me earlier when I saw the dog breath fire." Bard speaks, with a notably chipper edge to his tone, eager to share his idea.

"I hope this new plan doesn't involve a flamethrower." The boy grumbles, crushing bard's plan before he could even explain it.

That is until the door opens, and a familiar changshan clad man strolled in. "My lord! Hello." He greets in his usual polite, slightly cheerful manner. "Where's your precious kitty?"

"Oh, it's Mister Lau." Notes Mey-rin as she stepped aside to let him upto the desk.

"And what are you doing here?" Ciel asks, not exactly willing to deal with an unsolicited visit.

"I heard what you were up to," he sets both his hands on the desk, leaning forward subtly. "I thought I might assist."

Ciel had no time for this. "Go away." He growls. He was already in a foul mood, and he didn't need any more of his time wasted today.

"My lord, please don't be so hasty." he speaks calmly, still wearing his mild-tempered smile. "Why not relax and leave this up to (name)?"

Upon hearing him mention your name, Ciel gasps in both surprise and startlement.

"She has already woven a spider's web to trap him," he continued on, picking up the crowned cat piece and tampered with it. "And the more he tries to struggle, the more entangled he'll become; Escape is impossible."

"Against her, no prey stands a chance." He idles on, brushing his finger over the silver crown. "It is only a matter of time."

Ciel stares for a long time, contemplating the man's words. While he knew that you were yet to steer him wrong in preforming beneficial tasks for him, he was also aware that sebastian was just as, if not more cunning than you were.

...then again, your species as a whole was his source of weakness in a way...

Not to mention that you weren't a normal cat in general as it was...

"...very well." Ciel spoke with a tired resolve. "But do tell her that I will not tolerate any failure." He fixes the man with an icy glare. "Is that understood?"

Undeterred, the man keeps his placid, if a little sinister smile. "Yes of course, my lord." He replies calmly. "I'm sure she would not allow failure to sully the Phantomhive name. She would surely be booted back onto the streets if she'd done such a thing."

There was a brief pause as his choice in words hung in the air, creating a mildly awkward atmosphere.

Booted back onto the streets? Hell if he'd even let you out without his acknowledgement again... what the devil was he thinking?

"So, what are you up to?" Lau spoke in a light, casual tone, as if he didn't say anything at all, or even know what was happening in general.

Much to the irritation of everyone in the study as they let out a vocal groan.

"You sure okay, kiddo?"

You nosed the black cat gently as she gave her chest fur a few licks, a cat's way of dusting themselves off. Y-yeah... just kinda knocked the wind out of me. "Meeeww..."

You grunted, wrinkling your muzzle in distaste. You could've sworn you taught him better than that. "My deepest apologies." You sighed. "I'll be sure to have a word with the unruly hound later."

Don't worry about it. Thank you, Ms. (Name)! "Mreow!" She responds cheerily, giving your chest a soft nudge with her head. At least now I know that the legend is true! She meows cheerfully. That the Fearless hound tamer, (Name) is real! "Meeeooorrw!"

She pranced around you in excitement, purring to herself in a childish excitement. You couldn't help but smile at the energy, as it reminded her much of yourself when you were younger.

She then flopped onto the ground, rolling onto her back infront of you and raked the air with her claws, as if she were pawing at an opponent standing above her. Oh, someday, I want to be just like you! "Prrrreow!"

You blinked a few times, feeling a burn in your cheeks at the declaration. "I... uhm..."

At the same time, you couldn't help but feel a sense of weariness at the proclamation. While you have no regrets with your life, you didn't exactly like the idea of such a young, optimistic feline losing her innocence like you had just yet...

"Milady." Your ear perks at a familiar, smooth voice and turned to see the demon of the hour approaching you. "A special guest will be arriving shortly. Surely you can grace them with your presence."

You gave him a quick nod, turning to the young cat as she rolled onto her paws. "That is my cue. I must get going." You nodded to her politely to her. "Thank you for your visit to my manor...?" You tilted your head at her, to which she lifted her chin proudly.

(Cat name)! It's (cat name)! "Meow!" She piped excitedly.

"(Cat name). It's been a pleasure to know you. However, you'd best be on your way, now." You nudged her head lightly with your nose. "My master doesn't take kindly to strangers." You flicked your tail and set a paw on her head. "Perhaps we'll meet again sometime. Do you know your way back to the city?"

Y-yes! It's been an honor, Ms. (Name)! "Meorw!" She mewed, her eyes twinkling with admiration, as she hopped to her paws. M-May we meet again! "Mew!"

With that she bounded off, with a bit of pep in her step, as you watched with a placid expression.

"Seems to have taken quite a liking to you, mistress." Sebastian muses, to which you snorted softly in amusement. "It would seem so." You replied, feeling a sense of nostalgia. After a few more moments of staring, you rose to your paws, arching your back to get the kinks out of your back. "Now then... let's get this over with."

"Right." Sebastian turns to walk into the manor, but you lingered behind to glance over your shoulder at the direction the young black cat had ran.

Innocence is rare nowadays. It's also rare as it precious; once you lose it, you can't get it back.

You sighed softly, turning to follow the demon back into the manor.

Enjoy it while you can, kid.
