Rowan was raised to worship Kord, but fell away, disillusioned by her experiences and a feeling of abandonment by her god.
The oddity struck her that she'd worshipped Kord, the god of strength, for her whole entire life, but had felt no warmth or comfort from seeing the cleric's holy symbol. She'd prayed to him for different kinds of strengths over the years, as her father had taught her; physical strength, of course, moral strength to do the right thing, arcane strength over her abilities, but never felt as if he'd heard her.
