There once was a great pirate captain known as the Sea Ram—feared for his ruthless deeds and incredible feats. From many spoken tales, it is said that the Sea Ram was known as such for the large, curled horns atop his head.
He commanded a ship known as the Marina's Peril, and, along with his loyal crew, went on many a adventure, plundered many a ship, and discovered many a treasure.
Rival pirates knew to beware the black and red flag of the Marina's Peril.
In the legends, it is said that one day, a great storm had rocked the seas, forming waves higher than the grandest ship. The Marina's Peril was caught in this very storm, and thus, many aboard were killed.
Left was the Sea Ram himself and one sailor.
The two navigated the ship to a secluded island, where a lair was created and all their greatest treasure were hidden within it. Then, in the spur of the moment, the Sea Ram killed his final living crew member to serve as a forever guardian of his great treasures.
It is said that the Sea Ram died at sea, alone on his ship, and the Marina's Peril sunk into the depths of the deep blue.
Neither the ship, nor its captain, were ever found.
Tales say that the Sea Ram had drawn up a map that led to his treasure and hid it within an empty glass bottle of rum. It is also said that the map was in the form of a riddle, so that a common man would not be able to decode the treasure's location.
However, for decades, traces of this map of legends had never been found.
There are also tales of the treasures hidden within the Sea Ram's lair, from great golden lockets to sapphires and rubies. Among the treasures, the most sought after was not a gem or jewel. It was a leather covered book.
The Book of Life—a treasure of legends! Little was known about this prized possession, but it was said that its contents could resurrect the dead. The key to immortality! Every human's wildest dream was in the form of this fabled book, and many a mercenary and pirate captain had searched for this book, yet none succeeded.
For without the map, there was no treasure.
Eventually, though, this prized map made an appearance. A powerful pirate captain known as the Green Bandit had, in some way, gotten his hands on it.
He swore to find the treasure even if it would be the last adventure he would ever go on, but even the great Green Bandit could not solve the riddle of the treasure map.
Aboard his ship, called the Night's Mare, was a crew of ten men. Unbeknownst to the captain, four of the sailors sought to find the treasure themselves. Selfish means were not intended, for they only wished to prevent the Green Bandit from being in possession of the powerful item.
And so, one night, the four carried out their plan. A small fire was lit at the bow of the Night's Mare, drawing the crew away from the cabin, where the map was hidden. The Green Bandit, however, was well prepared. The two younger sailors were ambushed in the captain's study by the pirate captain himself.
A fight broke out between the two parties, but the two boys were no match for the skills of the captain. They attempted to flee with the map, but, as they ran towards the door, the Green Bandit grabbed at the paper, causing it to tear in two.
Being in possession of only half of their intended item, the four quickly escaped off the ship into a small emergency raft. As they paddled away, the remaining crew opened fire on the deserters, but luck was on the four sailors' side, for they managed to come out uninjured. Soon, they reached a small port where they purchased a vessel of their own, naming it the Coral Tide.
