This is my speed.

I just finished my dinner with Walker at a diner, he's got a surprise planned after this and I have no clue what I'm in store for. I got to wear my casual clothes that I wore shopping today. I got to eat something that required no utensils.

It was amazing.

The past few weeks dating Dane had been a nightmare and a huge lie. Today with Walker had proven to me that I was capable of feeling more than I thought possible. It proved to me that we really did have something special and that my relationship with Dane had been nothing more than a distraction. I was never myself with Dane, with Walker I was every bit my authentic self.

Walker paid for dinner and then walked me back to the subway stop. He'd had this concentrated dark look on his face since shopping this afternoon. I hope he's not mad about what I bought.

"Are you okay?" I ask quietly as the train pulls up. He immediately snaps out of his thoughts, face brightening up.

"Yeah, why do you ask?" He whispers, gesturing for me to step on the train. He finds us somewhere to sit and I clear my throat.

"You just seem like you have a lot on your mind, you have ever since we went shopping and......I-I guess I was worried I'd done somethings wrong." I whisper and he shakes his head, reaching out for my hands. I gladly place them in his larger ones and he squeezes them.

"It's nothing you did, I'm just thinking about tomorrow I guess." He admits quietly. "I've had a lot to think about today too." He smirks and I feel my cheeks heat up.

"You know everything's going to be fine, right?" I whisper, running my thumb over his knuckles. "What's going on between us isn't a lie, it's real and-"

"And that's exactly why I'm afraid." He admits quietly. "It's not going to take much for you to figure out why I don't like to be home."

"It won't change anything." I insist. "I know you don't believe me yet, but it's true. There's nothing that's going to happen that will change this." I assure him, nodding down to our hands. "It's okay for you to be nervous, I understand it makes you tense, but don't worry about me."

Walker was such a tough guy about things, he very rarely showed his soft underbelly but it did exist. I was seeing it now, but even here he was holding back a lot.

"I'm sorry, I'll try to loosen up. I don't mean to make you think that I'm upset with you. I promise you, that's the exact opposite of how I feel." He whispers and I smile. "Besides, I've got a great surprise geared up."

"Tell me what it is." I beg and he shakes his head with a grin, green eyes glinting back at me.

"No chance, but I hope you like it." He shrugs, kissing my cheek and my body warms up quickly.

Walker knows our stop and pulls me up onto my feet. He leads me up out of the subway and as soon as we're at the street he puts his hands over my eyes.

"Walker! I can't see!" I laugh and he chuckles behind me.

"I know, I'll walk you. Just trust me." He whispers and I nod slowly. I can hear the traffic and the people around us but I walk with him, totally in the dark.

Suddenly we stop and he turns me slightly. "Are you ready?" He asks and I smile with a nod.

"I'm ready! What is it?" I beg and he chuckles.

"Three, two, one." He counts down and then pulls his hands away from my eyes. My eyes take a second to adjust, but once they do I can tell we're right across the street from a theatre, but not just any theatre, the Gershwin Theatre. There's a line outside and the marquee over the door is aglow with lights and a familiar sign and playbill image.
