*Next Day*
*Evening time*
*Abandoned Brooklyn Navy Yard Warehouse*
Victoria's hands were fidgeting, fingers trembling as she stood beside Clary, keeping an eye on her brother in the distance. Freya had asked him to meet here at six in the evening, alone, and she couldn't sleep or rest since Emmanuel told her this. It was almost six now, and everyone had taken their stance.
Jia was hiding closer to where Emmanuel was, and the rest of them had scattered around the area, surrounding it to prevent Freya's escape. Fortunately for them, she didn't come with many people, so it was easy for them to kill them. Now they were waiting for Freya to arrive.
"Calm down, Vicky. Emmanuel would be fine." Clary said, trying to reassure her.
"You don't know Freya like I do, Clary. That bitch is our mother, unfortunately." She said in a shaky voice, wanting to get this over with sooner.
"Vicky..." came Emmanuel's voice through the headpiece that everyone was wearing, "I think I see her. She's carrying a dagger, too. But I'm not able to read her expressions today."
"You can do this, Niel. We're right here." She said, but her heartbeat was denying the statement. If anything happens to her brother, she wouldn't be able to live with herself. Taking a deep breath, she focused on the scene unfolding in front of her when Freya came into view, her face stoic and eyes ranking Emmanuel's body like a hungry predator. That was her son, yet she never behaved like that.
"My son, it's good to see you finally came to your senses," Freya spoke, her voice being condescendingly sweet yet venomous at the same time. Emmanuel smiled and hugged her when she opened her arms, and Vicky noticed that he was trying to pry away the dagger, but it was secured tightly. That bitch!
"Mom," Emmanuel forced the word along with a smile. Victoria was gripping Clary's hand, her mouth dry. Emmanuel's attempt to disarm her was unsuccessful. But it doesn't matter; her main weapon was her floor-length braid. "Sorry it took me this long, but I want to join you now."
"Where's Jia, Clary?" Victoria whispered, wanting to get her baby brother far away from that vicious woman as soon as possible. The more they interacted, the more her heartbeat rose.
"Do you now, son?" Freya's cold and controlled tone sent shivers down her spine, and she glanced at her brother, hoping all of it would end soon.
"I do, Mom." Emmanuel's voice trembled a little, but he kept his composure. "I'm done with being a cop that I never wanted to be in the first place. I want to be beside you now."
Victoria's heart hammered as she dug her nails into Clary's hand tighter, noticing how Freya was analysing every word with a cold glare that Emmanuel was emitting.
"Very well, son. At least you have my blood in you." Her lips split into an evil grin, and she moved to hug him when, in a blur of motion, she was on the ground, a trail of crimson sweeping from her left shin as Jia stood up gracefully beside them, her Katana dripping with blood, and Emmanuel took a few steps back, his chest heaving.
"You!" Freya spat before her eyes zeroed on Emmanuel, and Victoria's heart stopped. "Nice one, son."
Victoria let go of Clary's hand and ran towards their direction, pushing Emmanuel aside, but wasn't completely successful as Freya's dagger sliced through his left arm, leaving a trail of blood in its wake. "Niel!"
