***THREE YEARS LATER***
I found myself sandwiched between an array of people, afraid that any excessive movements, I would have bumped my elbow into them. I stood carefully still, trying not to sink my heels into the soft, fresh green grass.
Surprisingly, for New York, the sun was glaring down on us through the clear blue sky. The weather was perfect, not hot and not cold. A slight breeze cascaded past me, causing a flutter in the black gown that draped over my shoulders.
Hushed whispers bounced around me, as the vast people near me were waiting in anticipation. I let the sun capture my face, causing a slow emitting heat that enabled me to close my eyes and drift off to a daydream.
The sound of someone clearing their throat startled me and it showed the beginning of the ceremony. Stretching my head to the side, I squinted my eyes towards the insane amount of faces shot towards us, who were watching us carefully.
I managed to locate my mum, dad, Ava and Ruby. My heart leaped for joy knowing that the people I cared and loved the most, where here to support me in my educational journey.
After the long winded speeches, it was finally time for the students to be called one by one and retrieve their accomplishment, in which we all worked hard for.
I was edging closer and closer to my name being called. I took a deep breath in and slowly exhaled out. The very moment of walking on the stage was upon me.
My name was called and for a moment it felt like I was struck still. Straightening my posture, I confidently walked on the stage. My gown swished from side to side with the wind, as my hips swayed like I had all the power in the world.
The last three years were difficult, but I ensured I put all my effort into making this very moment count. A surge of happiness and the feeling of being proud, rushed through me like a tidal wave.
My scroll, that I worked hard for, placed in my palm as I shook the hands with the person giving it to me. I couldn't help but stretch a wide grin on my face. I could hard conceal my excitement and happiness.
I located my family once again and they were elated, clapping away and smiling like Cheshire Cats. After returning to the flurry of students, I blocked the rest of the ceremony out, as non of it mattered.
I felt like I had achieved a lot over the last three years and I was satisfied with where I was. It was like finally arriving at the top of the mountain after a long and gruelling hike.
The ceremony had finished and we all burst into cheers, throwing our caps up in the air. After coming down from my high, my feet slammed against the softened grass, trying to find my parents.
