The silence around me was deafening. My feet were glued to the floor and I was struck still like a statue. The faint buzz of the traffic outside, alongside the tremor of my heart, were the only thing my ears could pick up.
Regret.
Regret was the only thing that flooded into me. I couldn't fathom the reason why I had turned Zac away. I was close to getting what I wanted and the barriers around me, acted like a shield, trying to protect me.
I felt like I was beginning to tiptoe around the idea that I didn't want protecting anymore. I needed to tackle things head on.
That's when it all came crashing into me like a wrecking ball. Suddenly, I came to devastating realisation on what I had done. What felt like hours, only mere seconds had past and I made a run towards the door.
I wanted him. I needed him. I had to run after him.
My hand slammed onto the handle, which enabled me to fumble around, trying to open the door. Gathering myself, I pushed the feeling of disorientation away from me and calmly opened the door; prepping myself to run for my life.
As the doorway opened up, I came to a sudden halt.
There, right in front of me, not being able to comprehend or believe it, was Zac. His hand was lifted upwards as if he was about to knock on the door.
I wasn't able to conceal the pure delight that I had flooding through me, a nervous laugh of realisation came out of my mouth.
"You're still here," I let out in a shaky but shy voice.
"And you changed your mind." The corner of Zac's lips curved into a satisfied smile.
We melted in a calming silence as neither of us could mutter a single word, not knowing where to begin. We beautifully gazed at each other. Relief was soaring through me, knowing that I didn't let him out of my grasp again.
For a while, I felt like there was something between us, that over the past few months, had been expanding into a ball of desire and passion.
Finally, that ball of desire and passion had reached it maximum and exploded, when Zac took two large strides towards me, closing the door behind and crashed his lips onto mine. Instantly my lips moulded with his, as if it was familiar to the feeling and sensation.
One hand was elegantly placed around my neck, which ignited my skin. The other hand snaked around my waist, holding me close and tight with his body.
My hands automatically laced into his soft and wavy hair, I had the urge to feel more as I pulled him closer, giving the same energy back in the kiss. Our lips moulded together, with our tongues dancing against each other. The heat ejecting from his hot breath caused a hitch in mine.
His hands glided downwards, getting a tighter grip on me as he scooped me up in his strong hold. My legs automatically wrapped around him. The more he tantalised with his lips, the more I felt my soul opening up.
