Man, I don't think that I have ever seen Katherine that upset before, but the important thing is that she may have helped us find out where Jack was, but I'm not going to tell the other boys about that. Maybe I should tell Crutchie since he seemed to be the only one who looked like he regretted how we treated Jack and that he left.

I walked upstairs onto the rooftop where I saw Crutchie who looked through a crate and pulled out a letter. It was probably another letter from Jack. I wonder what it could say this time.

"Hey, Crutchie?". He closed the crate and looked at me.

"What do you want, JoJo? I thought that you guys don't want anything to do with Jack, let alone be on the rooftop?". Right, Crutchie doesn't know that I never hated Jack.

"I think that I might know where Jack could be"

"Why do you care? I thought you hated Jack?"

"I never hated him. I never believed that he betrayed us on purpose, but I still never defended him or told him that I never thought that he betrayed us on purpose"

"Really?"

"Yeah, I never meant to push him away like that, but I was just too upset to think properly. I wish that I could have told him that when I had the chance"

"So why are you telling me this? Why not tell anyone else?"

"Because I don't trust the others. Most of them still hate Jack for what he said at the rally, and I'm worried that if they find him, then they will hurt him again"

"... Ok, where do you think Jack is?"

"You won't tell anyone, right?"

"Of course not!"

"Ok, I think that he might be at Davey's place. I went downstairs into Newsies Square and I overheard Katherine screaming at Davey, saying that he knows where Jack is"

"Are you sure about that?"

"I don't know. I'm just assuming, but it is better than nothing"

"True. Maybe we can ask Davey when he comes back from selling newspapers"

"Ok. I want Jack to come home. I miss him so much and I just want to apologize to him"

"Me too", he stated as he looked at the letter in his hand.

"Is that another letter from Jack?"

"No, it is actually the letter that I wrote to him from the Refuge. I can't believe that he kept it"

"Can I see it?"

"Sure". I started to write the letter, which made me feel even more guilty about how we treated Jack.

"'A family looks for each other'. Some family we were"

"I know". I looked over the side of the rooftop and I noticed Davey walking back toward Newsies Square.

"Davey is back"

"Great, now we can ask him about Jack"

"Do you think that he will let us anywhere near Jack"

"I don't know, but we will have to try". We walked downstairs into Newsies Square to meet up with Davey.

David Jacobs' POV

I hope that none of the boys figure out that Jack is at my apartment. The last thing that I want is to have any of them to follow me and hurt Jack.

Once I walked into Newsies Square, I collected my work pay, and I told Mr. Wiesel that I wanted to collect Jack's work pay, which he didn't care about it, but regardless, he gave it to me. I remember that Jack told me one time that he always gave his work pay to the other boys and he never used it for himself.

It was always selfless of him to do that, but seeing how the boys have treated him, the boys don't deserved his work pay. He deserves to have his own money for once.

I was about to leave Newsies Square to go back to home until Crutchie and JoJo walked toward me. What do those two want? I don't want to talk to any of them right now.

"Davey?", JoJo called out to me.

"What do you want, you two? I need to get home right now". JoJo seemed hesitant to say anything else, so Crutchie stepped in.

"Look, I know that we are the last ones who you want to talk to, but we are worried about Jack. And we think that he might be at your apartment"

"How do you even know that?"

"Like it was hard to find that out when Katherine came in here, screaming her head off and implying that Jack was at your place". Yeah, I was afraid that would happen. I looked around to make sure that none of the others were listening into the conversation.

"Ok. Fine, he is at my apartment, so what do you want?"

"Can we talk to him?"

"Why? Haven't you guys said enough to him?"

"Davey- -"

"Katherine told me everything that you guys did to him and I can't believe that you would do that to him. I don't care what he said at the rally, he didn't deserve that kind of treatment"

"We know, but- -"

"No, I'm not letting you see him! Look, I don't have time for this, I need to go home, but here". I handed Crutchie the paycheck. "Jack wanted me to give this to you. At first, I didn't think that any of you deserved it, but Jack wouldn't have liked it if I didn't, so just take it"

"But we don't- -"

"Just take it!"

"We don't care about the money! We just want Jack back! I want Jack back!. I know that he didn't mean to betray us and I should have defended him, but I didn't! I want to make it up to him, so please just let us talk to him"

They seem genuinely guilty about what they did to Jack. Should I just let them see him? Maybe if Jack agrees to it, then I will consider it.

"... I will talk to him and see if he wants to, but I can't guarantee it"

"Thanks"

"Thanks, Davey. And tell Jack that he can keep his check, and that we found out about his other paychecks"

"I will". After that, I left Newsies Square. I never thought that it would get this complicated. Now, it is up to Jack on what he wants to do.
