44: Family

Angel POV

I slept over at Sunghoon oppa's place because his dad and sister were coming today. I had been paranoid all at school and had a hard time focusing. Oppa kept telling me not to worry, that I would be fine but I still worried. Now I know how it felt when he had to meet my dad.

Mom comforted me too. "Think of him as like an older version of Sunghoon-ah" she smiles at me and I nod hiding the fact that I'm about to have a panic attack when the doorbell rings. I hold my breath unintentionally as mom opens the door.

"Mom!" Is the first thing you hear when the door is opened and I breath relieved. A young girl a few years younger than me gives mom what looks like a bone crushing hug.

Kind of makes me miss my mom.

"Where's appa?" Mom asks Yeji and she smiles as if she asked a wonderful question.

"He's bringing the stuff up" mom kisses her forehead before she acknowledges her brother. She jumps on him and gives him a bone crusher too. "How is my favorite sister?"  He asks and she stops smiling at him. "I'm 12 not dumb. I'm your only sister, oppa" she says with sass and attitude.

"That's why you're my favorite" he smirks at her but she's not falling for his charms "Look, Yeji. I want you to meet my girlfriend" my eyes widen as me and Sunghoon oppa make eye contact but relax them when Yeji and I make eye contact. "Hi" I say softly and she walks toward me.

"You're pretty, unnie. How'd oppa finds someone like you?" She asks making me laugh. "That's what I said Yeji!" Oppa says making me blush as he holds my hand. The door opens again and I let go of oppa's hand as his dad comes in. They were right he looked like an older version of Sunghoon oppa.

He drops the luggage and hugs mom tightly and I can see what oppa was talking about at the picnic. Mom looked like she just received a million bucks when oppa's dad walked in. Her smile was brighter and so was the spark in her eye.

She looked in love.

They let each other go and oppa's dad looked at me. "You must be my future daughter-in-law" I look oppa in disbelief, I did all this panicking for nothing, even though I'm happy he accepted me that was the most anticlimactic thing ever.

"Hello, Mr. Park" I nod and bow immediately. "Call me dad" he smiles at me and I can't help returning it. Yeji takes a compartment from dad and puts it on the floor. "Unnie meet Gaeul, she's very nice and friendly"

she opens the door and little Gaeul comes out. She walks to me and sniffs my hand before letting me pet her. I start playing with her, I've been waiting to meet her for the longest. "Unnie, she likes you" Yeji says.

In Florida

"Ms. Reed, I have the pictures now" Ms. Reed sighs and opens her phone. "Send them now!" She says with great authority "This'll be the last thing I ask of you" she said quickly hanging up. Ms. Reed had been struggling for a little while now and she wasn't happy about it.

She knew that her half of Angel's money would run out and she'd have to get a job soon. She's been reduced selling stuff like some of her clothes and jewelry. She checks the pictures that Jerome sent her. She notices something in the pictures, both Angel and the boy wore jewelry.

She zooms in on their jewelry, with a mischievous smirk. Angel had a  white diamond snowflake necklace while the boy had a similar bracelet with the exact same details. She had to get Angel back one way or another and she didn't care how.

Sunghoon POV

Dad and Yeji seemed to like Angel, especially Yeji. She kept asking Angel multiple questions about herself "Unnie, where are you from?" "I'm from Miami, Florida" "Where Disney land is?!" Yeji asks excitedly until Angel politely shakes her head.

"Disney land is in California. Disney World is in Florida" she smiles at my sister who nods at the new information before turning to my dad. "Appa, can we go to Florida where unnie lives and go to Disney world?!" My dad scratches his head nervously. "I don't know, Yeji..." he trails, my sister picks up Gaeul and gives my dad sad puppy dog eyes.

He gives into them eventually "We'll discuss this matter later on" he says. I look over at Angel who's looking at my sister and dad in longing way, I can tell she misses her dad. "You know honey, Sunghoon and I have met Angel's dad. He's a very nice gentleman and it seems like Angel gets her charms from him"

Mom comes out of the kitchen "What happened to you mom by the way, sweetheart? I didn't get a chance to meet her" my Mom says and Angel visibly tenses up, she tried calling her mom again the other day with no response. "Mom, Angel's mom- she"- I start to explain but Angel stops me.

"I haven't even in contact with my mom since I moved here a couple weeks ago" she says, my dad looks between my mom and girlfriend confused. "Did something happen...? To your mom?" He asks softly and Angel shakes her head.

"I don't think so. I was an ice skater before but I didn't want to continue with it and she got mad at me. She didn't want me to move out here and be independent" she explains with a weak smile, I got sit by her to comfort her. "Honey, I'm so sorry" my mom says with sorrow.

"It's okay, Unnie! We can be your new family! I can finally have an older sister!" Yeji smiles "I've always wanted a little sister" Angel smiles with her eyes for the first time today. I'm glad she's allowing my family to be there for her and I'm glad that we're able to.
