(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Y/n) silently cheered Billy on as he kept getting scores, clapping for him inconspicuously to not get any more hatred from the girls around her as Billy smirked her way. He liked being cheered on by (y/n) even if it was in secret. Billy was pummelling the other team, one of the guys running out to grab Steve to bring him back to the game but when he did, he stormed towards his stuff.

He was pissed off, confirming that Nancy never actually loved him and that their relationship was bullshit actually hurt. He was upset and frustrated and (y/n) noticed the sad look on his face.

"Steve?" She mumbles out, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Are you ok?"

"No, no I'm not ok." Steve sighs out and (y/n) frowns.

Billy watched with gritted teeth as (y/n) and Steve left the gym together. She said that there was nothing between them so what was this bullshit?

(Y/n) waited for Steve outside the school when he was done taking a shower and getting dressed, him standing next to her with a solemn look once he was done. The two went over to Steve's car and sat on the hood, (y/n) waiting for him to rant whenever he was ready.

"She never loved me (y/n)... I talked to her and she couldn't even say it back to me..."

"I'm so sorry." Steve sighs out, running his fingers through his hair.

"What do I do?"

"I mean from what little context I got, everything can't go back to how it was in the past. You can't forget what happened and just move on. Some people need closure first before they can invest their time in someone else."

"I feel terrible (y/n), maybe I should've helped Nancy when she wanted to come clean."

"That's in the past now. From what I can tell, Nancy is independent and I think she's already going off to do that."

"What should I do?"

"How do you feel about her?"

"I love her, I still love her even though we're broken up..."

"I'm sure she loves you too but she needs time first. She needs closure with Barbara and I think you also need the time to reflect."

"I guess I've never been good about being there for others or showing them I care..." Steve starts to rant, going on about how his dad never acknowledged him or cared about him unless he got good grades. (Y/n) just listened quietly, letting Steve spill everything he was feeling until they both sat in silence.

"Better?" (Y/n) asks and Steve chuckles, nodding.

"Better. Thank you so much (y/n), I don't know what I'd do without you here."

"Wallow in sadness?" The two laugh happily, hearing students walk out of the school once the basketball game was over.

Billy was looking around for (y/n) but stopped when he saw her and Steve laughing together and he narrowed his eyes at them. He hated this, hated how the two were all buddy buddy.

Fine, two can play this game.

Billy looked over at the giggling group of girls, flashing them his infamous bad boy smirk before walking over to one of them. "Hello beautiful, I've seen you around and I had to come say hi."

"Oh! Hi Billy." The girl smiles back as he twirls a lock of her hair around his finger.

"How about you and me go somewhere together."
