"How are my favourite sailors?" (y/n) smirks as she walked into the ice cream store while Steve failed to get a girl's number. Again.

"Another one bites the dust!" (y/n) and Robin sings out together and Steve groans out.

"You are oh-for-six, Popeye." Robin snickers, marking a line in the 'You Suck' column of the board that she and (y/n) has been keeping track of.

"That must hurt Steve." (y/n) chuckles as she leans against the register table, him smiling at her.

"Haha very funny. Now come here." he pulls her behind the register to hug her, doing their handshake that they made when (y/n) and Steve first found out they were working in the same mall together.

When (y/n) and Steve first got their jobs and bumped into each other at the mall, they decided to hang out every time they had their lunch break or (y/n) would come down to the ice cream store to bug Steve whenever she had time and felt like it. The two were surprised at first to be working so close to each other, (y/n) working on the floor above Steve but it was the perfect way for the two to make up after being distant from each other. They caught up and talked about life during their breaks, sometimes (y/n) giving Steve some advice on how to get girls.

Billy wasn't all that thrilled when he found out (y/n) and Steve worked so close together, finding her at his store in her business attire while he tried to find her during her lunch break. But he let it be knowing that (y/n) didn't have feelings for Steve and he made sure to rub it in his face whenever he pulled her close and kissed her cheek.

"Hey Robin!" (y/n) calls out to the girl and she smiles.

"Hey (y/n), what brings you here?"

"Just thought I would visit you both."

Steve introduced Robin to (y/n) and it took some time for the girls to become friends seeing as (y/n) was very shy. But they soon hit it off when they realised they went to the same high school, (y/n) telling Robin all the embarrassing stories about Steve when he begged her not to.

"Want a scoop?" Robin nods to the ice cream and (y/n) nods, picking out a flavour. She went to pay but both sailors stopped her.

"On the house for you."

"Come on, you know I'm keeping track every time you say that. I owe like $20!"

"Nah, it's free for our favourite person." Steve chuckles, ruffling (y/n)'s hair and she swats her hand away.

"Don't run to me when you magically see a $20 bill in the cashier."

"You wouldn't!" Robin fake gasps but laughs. "So what's up?"

"Well... Billy may or may not have asked me out for our first date..."

"Shut up!" Robin gasps for real, dropping the board and running over to (y/n). "Fucking finally! I almost lost my bet with Popeye here!"

"You bet on us!?" (y/n) looks at Steve who groans, handing money to Robin.

"He thought Hargrove was never gonna ask you out officially."

"I mean same considering our situation. But I don't mind." (y/n) shrugs.

"So what are you two doing?" Steve asks, listening in as well.

"Didn't say. Said he'll pick me up from my place later tonight."

"Don't you like, live literally across from each other? What's the point?" Steve asks in confusion.
