Everyone that was picked for council was sent to a room and we all sat around the table. I was nervously tap my foot against the ground, after talking to MG finding out that Kaleb was the one that got everyone to vote for me to hurt him and that kinda has me on edge. I don't want to anyone to feel like I'm not really up to the task. When Hope walks in we all turn are heads. "Sorry I'm late." She says and I smiled. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I ran unopposed." She said and I nod.
Emma says a spell that lefts up the scales. "We're here to discuss if Landon should be allowed to stay at the school. My vote, on behalf of the lower school, is to err on the side of inclusion. We exist to help kids like him. Which is what I'm going to do now." Emma said and putting her pebble on the scale, voting Landon could stay. "I have a search party out looking for Jed. As you've all seen, violence leads to more violence. If you'll excuse me." Emma said looking at Raf before leaving.
"All right, who wants to start?" I asked. "Landon has to go." Hope says immediately and everyone is kinda shocked. "I don't want to be mean but Hope's right." I say and Rafael looks at me and I feel the guilt building up. "My dad and Alaric made our home into a school for supernatural kid who needed a home because Humans refuse to make a place for us in their world. We start letting them in, it's only a matter of time before they take this place from me-us, too." I say and vote No despite the holes Rafael was burning on the side of my head.
"Landon is my brother. He's the only reason I'm alive. He can't go back to human life knowing that magic and dragons exist. We took his whole crappy life from him. Be awful selfish of us not to give him one to replace it." Raf said and voted yes. "That's two-one." He said. "Doesn't matter how much we want him to stay. Look what one mad wolf did to him. Earlier, I asked him if he felt safe here. He said yes. But he was lying. This place is dangerous for him and even he knows it."She said. "I will protect him." Rafael said. "And where we're you an hour ago?" She asked and Raf glared at her but didn't say anything.
"That's the point. If he stays, it's on all of us. It is all of our responsibility to protect him. Can we honestly say we believe every one of us can handle that kind of responsibility?" She asked us and she has a point. Hope then puts her vote in and we turn to Josie for her input. "Looks like it's up to you, Jo." I said and she looked like she was seconds from fainting. "Josie. Please." Raf says and I can tell by the way her heart is beating, he's not gonna like her answer and let's be honest Lizzie isn't either.
"Since Landon walked through those doors, My sister, my father and I have almost died. We don't really know what Landon is, so we can't really say if we know if he's dangerous or not. Raf, this isn't about who's friends with who or who you like. This school is family and I'm not putting my family in danger again." She said and put her stone on the scales. Rafael angrily stands up, pushing the table and knocking his chair down as he did so. I stood up and stepped in front of him. "Stop." Josie said and Raf scoffed. "You know what, I'm done with y'all." He said and leaves the room. "Well that went smoothly." I said and the girls sighed.

After everything that happened with Raf I wanted to check up on Josie to see if she was okay, I know making the decision was hard for her. I knocked on the door before walking in and Josie was already in bed. "Hey." She said and I smiled, closing her door behind me. "Hey. I was just coming to check on you." I said. She smiled and pat the spot next to her and I returned a smile and climbed underneath the covers. "I'm fine." She said and I gave her looked and she sighed knowing she couldn't lie to me. "It's just I feel really bad for hurting Raf and breaking my promise." She said.
"Jo, you didn't make any promises, Lizzie did and she didn't get picked , you did. I think you did the right thing." I said and she smile lightly before putting her head on my shoulder. "Amara." Jo said and I looked down at her "yeah." I said and she lefts he head and looks at me. "Would you be my date to my birthday party?" She asked and my eyes widen. "Really? You wouldn't rather go with Penelope or Wolf boy?" I asked and she laughs and shakes her head. "No, I want to go with you. Only you." She said and I hear her heart beat go up and I smiled. "Jo, I would love to be your date." I said and she smiles back.
