Daryl and I made our way back to the group with food from the pantry, we were quiet for quite a while. It wasn't an awkward silence, but it was tense, I could tell Daryl was agitated about having to kill his undead father and I didn't want to bring the subject up again. I decided Daryl would tell me about his father and childhood if and when he wanted to, I didn't want to pry for a few reasons, one, I knew what having a troubled past was like, two, Daryl and I were just getting close, I didn't want to ruin that and three, I already knew Daryl was reserved and mysterious it was one of the reasons I was drawn to him.

Eventually I decided to speak "Daryl?" I asked "I know you might not want to, but I'm here for you if you ever need to talk" he turned to face me and for a moment I thought he might open up to me but instead he grunted and mumbled a thank you before carrying on along the path. We had almost reached the clearing which would bring us back onto the road where the rest of the group were when Daryl suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to face me.

"Why did ya tell me about yer past?" He asked
"Because I trusted you" I replied "I knew you'd understand"
"Ya only knew me a few weeks and you say ya trusted me" he said
"I'm a good judge of character, Daryl, I know a good, trustworthy person when I meet them, and your one of them, your just like me, that's why I trusted you" I stated
"Ruby," he starts slowly "I trust ya, I just ain't ready to tell no one my story yet"
Slowly I walk towards him, cupping his cheek in my hand and gently kissing his lips "I understand" I whisper leaving the conversation there as we walk back to the group.

"Done hunting?" Glenn asks as we head back to the campfire.
"Was too dark to see anything but we found a cabin and found some food in the pantry" I replied shivering slightly from the winter breeze as I sat by the fire. Daryl sat beside me offering me a cup of tea we boiled on the fire earlier, I smiled "thank you".

--------------------------------------------------
The next morning Daryl woke me up by shaking me gently and calling my name.
"Morning" I smiled when I opened my eyes to see him offering me a hand to help me up. He had dark circles under his eyes. "Have you not slept?" I asked and he shook his head.
The fire had burnt out and everyone was getting ready to start the day's journey. I checked the RV's bedroom no one was in there so I asked Daryl to get some sleep while we were travelling. He refused saying someone needed to ride his motorcycle, he rode his motorbike while I held onto him behind.

We travelled for a while and eventually we came across a large building surrounded by a metal fence walkers roaming the field outside. The RV stopped and so did we. Rick stepped out of the RV and immediately came to me and Daryl.
"It's a prison" Rick told us
"But it'll be secure" Daryl said
"Exactly" Rick replied
"And what do we do if they're are prisoners inside?" I asked "dangerous people?"
Rick pinched the bridge of his nose like he always did when thinking about something important.
"I suppose we'll have to work that out when the time comes" Rick stated briefly before walking back to the RV to start heading towards the prison.
I adjusted my swords on my back to make it more comfortable and easier to reach if I needed them and climbed on Daryl's bike behind him.
"Ready?" He asked in his southern accent
"As I'll ever be" I replied as he pulled away following the RV to the steel gates preparing for the walkers and whatever else may be lurking inside those walls.
