Left behind

The Korean boy walked to the other vehicle and opened the back door.

Out stepped a Mexican man who rushed to Miranda picking Louis and Eliza up in his arms laughing, then a blonde woman stepped out and ran to Amy giving her a hug, next was a dark skinned man who looked sort of sad and lastly a man with the same cop uniform as Shane stepped out.

'Dad?' Carl asked from behind me. I turned round Lori was staring wide eyed at the man. 'Dad!' Carl screamed running into his arms. Carls dad fell to the floor crying and hugging Carl, Lori run over shooting Shane a dirty look and started to hug Carl and the man all of them laughing and crying together.

I walked over to Amy the other blonde girl still hugging her ready to meet the rest of the group that had just arrived. Amy smiled and released the other girl 'Ruby this is my sister, Andrea, this is Ruby, she joined us yesterday when Daryl found her' Amy told Andrea.
'Nice to meet you' I smiled warmly 'I'm going to go introduce myself to everyone see you later' I stated and walked off to Lori, Carl and his dad.

'Dad you have to meet everyone' Carl yelled excitedly tugging on the mans arm.
'Hey Carl' I laughed 'who's this?' I asked motioning to the man behind him.
'This is my Dad, Rick, we thought he was dead but Glenn found him' he smiled 'this is Ruby, Dad, she's new here too' I smiled and held out my hand for Rick.
'Nice to meet you' he took my hand and smiled warmly, them he was tugged away by Carl to meet everyone else.

I shook my head and giggled at Carl, Miranda called me over to her so I turned and walked to them. 'Hey Ruby, this is Morales' she smiled 'my husband' she pecked his cheek and I smiled at her.
'Nice to meet you Morales, I'm glad your safe, your family is wonderful' I told him.
'Thank you, good to meet you too' he replied.

Lastly I walked over to the Korean boy and the dark skinned man who were talking about the sports car the Korean had turned up in. I cleared my throat causing them to turn round.
'Hello, I'm Ruby, new to the group since yesterday' I stated clearly.
'Hey, I'm Glenn. Welcome to the group' he smiled and held his hand out, I shook it and looked at the other man.
'I'm T-Dog, nice to meet you' I smiled and shook his hand too.

Now that I had met everyone I decided to get some food for Starstruck. 'Lori, are there any spare carrots I could feed to Starstruck?' I asked.
'Sure thing Hun, her you are' she handed me five small carrots. I thanked her and walked to Starstruck.
'Hey girl, you hungry?' I said soothingly to the horse holding out the carrots for her to eat while stroking her mane. She let out a small neigh in approval and started to eat.

Everyone was sitting around the campfire. Daryl still hadn't come back from hunting and everyone was having a discussion on what to tell him.

'I should tell him' T-Dog stated 'it was my fault'
'No offence, T-Dog, but this might sound better coming from a white guy' Rick told him. T-Dog sighed and nodded.
'Daryl's not going to be happy about this you know' I whispered quietly.

Then we heard the sound of rustling and a child's scream. 'Carl!' Rick shouted. We all ran to the source of the scream and came across a walker chomping on a deer that had 2 arrows in its side. I quickly sliced the head off the walker just as Daryl came in to the clearing.
'Son of a bitch' he yelled 'that was ma deer! What d'ya think cut round this bit 'ere?' He asked pointing to the deers neck.
'Too risky' Rick told him to which Daryl kicked the walker and pulled his arrows out of the deer.

'Merle!' He shouted in his southern accent 'Merle get out here' he shouted again when he got no reply.
'Um, Daryl? There's something I need to tell you' Rick started slowly.
'He dead?' Daryl asked bluntly.
'Er, no... He got left behind, I handcuffed him to a roof'
'Yer handcuffed 'im to a roof and left 'im there?' Daryl yelled.
'He was a danger to himself and others' Rick stated calmly 'I gave T-Dog the key but-'
'I, uh, dropped it' T-Dog told him.
'So pick it up then' Daryl said sarcastically.
'Down a drain' T-Dog finished.
Daryl sighed, the nodded 'let's go get 'im then'

Rick, T-Dog, Glenn and Andrea all looked at each other nervously.
'Um when we left the building was surrounded with walkers' Rick started.
'I padlocked the door shut though, your brothers fine, no ones getting in or out' T-Dog told him.
'I ain't just gonna leave 'im there to starve to death' Daryl shouted.
'Fine, fine, we'll go in the morning Merle's not going anywhere' Rick said.
'No you ain't' Shane spoke up 'your not risking your lives for a prick like Merle Dixon'
'Watch yer mouth' Daryl snarled pointing his crossbow at him.
'Shane it's fine I gotta get the bag of guns I dropped anyway' Rick said calmly.
'Guns?' Shane asked 'what guns?'
'The whole of the riot squads from the police station' Rick replied.
'Fine but you come straight back here no funny business'
'Ill come too' I stated 'and don't bother telling me I'm too young or I'm a girl 'cause I'm coming end of' I finished when I noticed Daryl about to open his mouth. He frowned and walked away Rick nodded then told me to rest up as we'd leave at dawn.

The next morning Daryl, Rick, Glenn, T-Dog and I geared up our weapons and hopped into the back of the van they had come in, T-Dog had decided to come as he felt bad for leaving Merle even after the racist abuse he'd got from him before Rick handcuffed him to the roof.

Glenn was producing a plan of action telling us we'd go through the back of the hardware store they were in there should be less walkers there, keep our weapons out for any trouble, Me, Daryl and T-Dog were to get Merle, while Rick and Glenn got the bag of guns near a tank surrounded by walkers. I was interested to know what Glenn was before the apocalypse since he seemed to be amazing with plans.
'Pizza delivery guy' he told me when I asked then turned straight back to the plan.

We got to the hardware store and everyone piled out of the van heading to the back of it. Glenn and Rick went around the side of the building careful not to make too much noise and attract the dead. Daryl, T-Dog and I ran up the stairs to the roof only coming across 3 walkers which were disposed of quickly. T-Dog broke open the padlock using pliers he had picked up on the way.

We ran through the door to find nothing but a pool of blood, a hacksaw and a human hand.

The only thing left of Merle.

Bit of a cliff hanger, what's happened to Merle? Most of you reading probably already know but still!
