Something has to be in possesion of my body as I am acting all kinds of out of line.
If I guess it is to do with the beauty named Athena. She seems to have something about her. Athena seems like a kind hearted person, but maybe a hint of sass in her.
Maybe it is just me not wanting to have another lady running from town and another cold case?
It seems like I am swirling around. The only thing that made sense after leaving the salon earlier today was making sure her lively hood is safe. Currently the only thing I could thing of, other than cops patrolling constantly around her, was to pick up the boards needed to put in place.
Literally the entire time I was at Hair Expressions, Chasity stayed by me. 'Helping' is what she called it to the other two ladies. Instead it seemed more like watching me and how I acted. All I wanted to do is get a good look at Athena, but I knew I was being watched and even at times I can swear Athena was looking at me too.
Finally making it back to the house, I put my truck in park. Grabbing the bag of chinese take out, I get out and walk up to my front door. I am quick to unlock it and walk in, throwing my keys on the table next to the door.
I walk into the living room and place the bag of food down. Next I remove my gun from the back of my pants and lay it on the coffee table. With everything off, I plop down on the sofa and turn the tv on.
Sitting back up, I get my food out and take a couple of bites. My mind is still racing so much, that I don't really taste the food. The case files lay in front of me from seven years ago and now.
Moving to pick up the files, I lean back on the sofa again and start reading through the cold case. This cold case is rough, a total of three cops worked it and two detectives. The only ones that are still on the force is Officer Gaperal, the others moved to a different station and then the one detective retired a year after.
From seven years ago the threats were harder and started much sooner than they have with Athena's case. The lady from seven years ago actually ended up in the hospital a total of seven times due to being attacked from behind one and panick attacks the rest.
Letting out a breath, I sit up and put the file back on the table. No wonder the lady left town due to the trauma she went through.
That has to be a goal to get ahead of this perp in some way. First thing we know is that if it is the same one, he is slower than before. Really the only thing we do officially know it that said perp is using burner phones.
A grab for fresh paper, gets me started on making a list of unsure verus what we know for a fact.
All the thought process is lost with the chiming of the door bell. I move my work to the table and close the files over.
Already having a feeling who is at the door, I leave my gun on the table. With a turn of the knob, I come to face to face with my smiling sister.
"Chasity." I smile.
"Bubby! Am I distrubing anything?"
"You know me, just working on the case."
"Hope it is going well. I know you will figure it out."
"You have to much faith in my Chas, no case is the same." I shake my head.
The last thing you ever want to do is get cocky, because someone will get hurt or lose it all. The only time to rejoice or even truly breath is when the suspect is behind bars. Even then it can get hard because some cases may stick with you with how they can become.
Something about this case is pulling different feelings out of me, that I don't even understand. The only thing I know is that I don't want anyone hurt. Especially all three ladies at the salon.
"Have you ate dinner?" I try to focus on something else.
"I came right over once I left the salon." Chasity shakes her head.
I move from the front door and Chasity follows in behind. Sitting on the sofa Chasity takes the chair on the other side of the table.
"Tonight is chinese." I smile, handing her some chopsticks and a container.
It seems like an unspoken rule to have extra food because I never know when my sister will be coming over. Me being who I am makes sure she is taken care of. If she doesn't then I have left overs for the next day. Call me a overprotective big brother, but I have always made sure Chasity is safe.
"So, you really seem to be involved with this case."
"I am involved in all my cases Chas. It doesn't show since you hadn't ever seen me in working one."
"No, typically it is just files on the this table when I come over. This time though, your face just looks different."
I rub my face and swallow the bite of food.
"I think it is because today after all the cases I have been on, my little sister is standing in the middle of everything."
Chasity shakes her head.
"I don't think that is all of it bubby. I seen the way you looked at Athena. It wouldn't hurt to talk to her, you know?"
"Chas, I don't need to get involved with a victim while the case is open."
"I didn't say get involved. Just simplying talking to Athena wouldn't hurt would it? Besides wouldn't starting off as friends be better than nothing but some stolen looks you both have gave."
I nod slowly. It tells me something with Chasity noticing my different actions. I only just seen Athena today, but yet there is already a hard pull to her. Talking with her would be better than nothing, plus I will need to for the case anyways.
What could it hurt by just talking to her, possibly getting to know her some? I may not see anything there with her.
Something with that thought doesn't set right with me. Like I will see something in her.
Over the years I have spoke with many female victims but none of them are pulling me like Athena has in less than a days time.
