We have been back home for almost two days. It has been a whirlwind of getting back into a routine for the both of us but Athena has done it smoothly. My concern was after her not working much with her clients from right before court start to taking our honeymoon that she would have slow days, but that's not the case for her.
When we got back, Molly has already settled into the apartment and working at the salon. Crystal and Gabe have stayed in town but surprisingly enough to me, been hanging out with my parents. The four of them have been doing all types of things and our mothers have hit it off just like our dads.
The girls are going to be doing something to my Mom and Crystal's hair soon and part of me is curious what they will be doing. My Mom has always had her hair waist length and rarely gets it trimmed, so it is wild to me but I love seeing how they get so excited about it all.
Brit and I have got back on track with the carjacking case. There may be a pattern on when the thieves strike, but if it is true then they will tonight. We walk to Chief's office because we need bait and he would be able to get us some.
"Come in guys." Chief calls out before we knock on his door.
Brit and I look at each other.
"Is it like he has some sixth sense?" Brit whispers, as I push the door open.
"Good just the two I want to see. Take a seat." Chief motions.
We quickly sit in the chairs in front of his desk.
"You can stop crapping your pants. I read over your reports this morning. Where are you leading with the case?"
We both blow a breath out.
"We were hoping you could help us get some bait to where we can hide out tonight to try and catch someone involved." I rub my forehead.
"You need a car from the impound." Chief states, typing on his computer.
"Yes, it would help if one of us drove it out and parked it then walked like we was going inside our home or something. It just needs to be the area the strike in." Brit responds.
"Well, you would be the one to do the driving and walking. I would be staked out nearby." I look over to Brit.
"This one would work. It fits what they go after I think." Chief turns his computer towards us.
It is a an older version of a Jaguar. The high price tag a car like that it still goes for would fit the case.
We both nod in response.
"Good go down the the evidence room and Sal will get the keys out of lock up for you. Just grab one of the police issue tags for the plate. Unless this suspects are good they won't know the difference." Chief says before we excuse ourselves.
Brit and I walk into the evidence area with Sal behind his computer.
"Chief sent me a message and I got it for you guys already." Sal hands out a set of keys, but there is a bunch of pink glitter things hanging off of it.
"Really dude? Can't we take that off." Brit sighs, while I try not to laugh.
"Afraid not, it is what came on the key set and has to stay." Sal laughs.
"On second thought you drive." Brit hands them out to me, making me full out laugh.
"Nah, I am good. You have fun with that. Maybe we should find you a pink shirt to wear with it." I joke.
"That actually isn't a bad idea." Chief speaks up behind us.
"Not happening." Brit states not even cracking a smile.
I pat his back. "You know the profile they hit the womens vehicles the most."
Brit shakes his head. "No one said being a Detective would involve dress up."
"All things needed sometimes to catch the perps." Chief stiffles a laugh.
After much convincing we got Brit dressed up in a skirt, pink shirt and to top it off a wig. Chief laughed so hard but Brit keeping the clean shave made him the easiest pick for this, while I will be down the street camped out in my truck.
"Don't you even take a." Brit just stops when we all click the button on our phones taking a picture of him dressed up.
"This may just earn you the employee of the top reward." Chief chuckles.
"Bethany would have a field day if she seen this." Brit mumbles.
"Oh don't worry they are seeing it after this bust." I chuckle, earning me a punch to the arm.
I do send a quick message to Athena and let her know that I will be out tonight on a case. I figure she is with some clients when I don't get a reply back and put my phone back in my pocket.
We get in my truck and head out to the impound yard. Brit gets the car and we take off, to the area the suspects tend to hit.
I circle the streets and find an off branch where the truck is hidden and I can watch out. Calling in to Brit, I let him know I am in position and within a few minutes he pulls up and gets out of the car. If we were not so focused on the case right now, I would be laughing until I couldn't breath with how he is even trying to walk like a woman to pull this off. Chief even slipped him an old purse to hold, which is how Brit is hiding his gun and badge.
The street lights come on as the sun is down in the sky and I sit back and wait. Funny enough Chief knows the house that Brit parked at and he is inside looking out the window with a camera set up as well. No sooner than I look over, there is two guys running up towards the car.
They are not smart criminals with not even waiting until the people may be asleep. Slipping out of the truck, I draw my gun and jog up the street. Reaching them right as they bust the lock on the car.
Brit steps out from behind the house and is holding his gun out in front of him. Together we go around the house as the car makes some sounds from being hot wired.
"Police, hands in the air now!" I shout.
The perps jump and raise their hands.
"Get out of the car now!" Brit takes over.
They listen but all seriousness goes out and they laugh when they look over to Brit who is still in the outfit and wig.
Pulling out my cuffs I read them their rights as the cruiser comes up to collect them.
Brit huffs and safety's his weapon before wanking the wig off. "Next time you will be the one to dress like a woman."
A/N---
Hey Hey Guys!!!Got a good laugh?
Brit has learned they have to do things they may not be ready for.
