I'm blown away never in my life did I think that any of this would happen for me but yet here I am and could never be happier. Not even the fact that my parents didn't answer the phone this morning bothers me. Sure, I should care that they know about all of this happening in my life, but then again they have always been busy doing their own thing.
Zack and I have made quite a morning of just spending time together and asking loads of questions. I found out his favorite color is orange which is funny because it is mine too. He will eat anything at least once but not picky and typically eats anything as long as it is edible. Otherwise, we tend to like the same things with movies and such.
Now though I am standing at the clothes I brought hanging in the empty closet that Zack insisted he hang up for me. I am moving in that is official and it was cute when he wanted to put my clothes up for me. Sweet is not strong enough for his actions.
"You have been standing there the longest." Zack chuckles.
"Well, I am nervous. Isn't it a golden rule to dress to impress when meeting the parents of the person you love? Everything I packed and have here now is basic what I wear everyday and even to the salon."
"Precious, they won't care what your dressed in. My parents are not going to judge based off looks."
I sigh because it is not something I am used too. With my parents growing up anytime they had guests over it was dress and high heels. I had to always dress to impress.
"Maybe I should go to the apartment just to grab a dress?"
"No, please trust me any of these outfits would be just fine."
With a huff I reach for the first outfit and hold it next to me.
"This was the first you hung up, so I take it being your favorite." I smirk.
"Can't blame me. That top is a nice navy blue with lace trim on the top and looks to show some sneak peaks of boobs. I even bet you put it on and bend over I can get a nice view."
I laugh and pull his shirt off I been wearing this morning. Zack is already dressed and ready to go, as where all I have done since my shower is blow dry my hair straight and letting the few strains of blue show, along with minimum makeup so basic mascara is all.
With the clothes on, I bend over on purpose to where Zack gets that view he spoke about to grab my shoes.
I look up through my lashes and smirk.
"Is this the view you were talking about?" I ask innocently.
Zack groans and makes me laugh when he fixes himself in his jeans. "Yes that is the one."
I stand up and walk past him grabbing my purse out of the bag I normally carry. Zack and I walk out of the house and he locks up. The drive seems to take forever but doesn't last long at all before we pull up at a small house.
"Chasity won't be here. It is the day I normally take off but between her and Bethany they like to be open and accept walk ins to get any extra money." I sigh.
"I remember Chas saying something about that."
"Yeah, I like having at least one day off on the weekends but Bethany loves to work. So with her having the keys I told her she could be open and any money on the day I take off for the weekend she gets that money from the cut or whatever service she does."
"One reason I love you, there is that kindness."
"Well, if they want to work and I want a day I always don't go in then they deserve to get the full money for that day. Then through out the week they get a percentage of the profit we make to where it is not an hourly pay. Doesn't hurt me any." I shrug, to me it was just logical for everyone.
Before we walk up to the door a woman steps out and bounds down the few stairs there.
"Zack! My, my is this the lucky woman that you finally bring home to meet us?" She smiles and then pulls me into a hug.
"Mom." Zack groans some. "Can we get in the house first before you attack Athena."
"No we can not. You have a lovely name Athena. That hair is the best! Where did you get it done?"
"Athena this is Carol my mom." Zack chimes in, trying not to laugh.
I smile and look back to Carol. "I actually had it done at my salon. Bethany and Chasity done it up for me."
"Now I knew where I heard your name before. Don't mind an old womans mind." Carol laughs.
"You're not old at all, don't look a day over thirty."
Carol laughs and pats my back.
"Come dear, let's get you inside and we can chat while I check on dinner." Carol drags me with her while Zack lags behind us.
Inside the house is cozy. A man was sitting in the lounge chair reading a nice thick book.
"Sam this is Athena, the lady Zack brought with him."
"It's nice to met you Sam." I smile.
"Very nice to meet you too Athena." Sam stands and pulls me into a hug.
I would have called him by his last name but my mind completely forgoes what Chasity's last name is. Since Zack still holds his biological fathers last name, after he past when Zack was a baby.
Carol pulls my hand and off to the kitchen we go. Zack stays behind with his dad smiling as I am dragged away.
"So tell me about yourself dear." Carol goes to stir something in a pan, before checking the oven.
"Not much to tell really." I laugh. "I moved here almost seven years ago. Opened up the salon and for the longest it was just Bethany and I, until I hired on Chasity. Which was the best thing to do because she fits right in and became such an amazing friend to me like Bethany is."
"I have heard some of the funny moments she has went through since working there a few months now."
"It is hard to believe it has only been a few months because with Chasity is feels like the three of us in the salon has been friends for years." I giggle some.
"She needed friends like you and Bethany." Carol smiles softly.
"We all needed each other." I slowly nod.
"Is there anything I can help with?" I ask feeling wrong to just be standing here.
"Oh no dear. Table is set and I am fixing to put these items on the table to serve." Carol smiles to me, before stepping closer.
"Thank you for bringing a spark in my babies eye. He has never been this happy before."
It makes me tear up some. "Zack's made me just as happy." I smile.
