Today starts a new day and I am trying to hold onto yesterday desperately. It was not something we planned or even wanted at the time, but I am even more grateful for the way our wedding did turn out to be.
I was awake before before the alarm went off, nerves getting the best of me. The last time I seen Dason, he had a gun to my head and shot Zack. Now I am going to be in a small court room with him and see him or hear his voice.
A breath travels close to my ear and I jump, as my heart races in my chest.
"Hey, Hey. Precious it is just me." Zack's voice breaks through the ringing in my ears.
I catch my breath as Zack's hands spin me to face him. I didn't ever feel his hands on my arms, it only registered with the breath he exhaled by my face.
"I am so sorry." I barely whisper, willing for the tears to go away.
"Where was your mind?" Zack looks in my eyes.
"I was thinking about the last time I seen Dason and it was going through my mind."
Zack pulls me against him and I breath in his colonge.
"You was reliving it all over again. Just remember he won't be able to hurt you today or any day during this trial however long it lasts. Okay?"
I try to nod but my body betrays what I want it to do and instead shake to give him a no.
"Athena, he will be in cuffs the entire time and if he even tries to make one move to away from his seat the guards will take him down. I will not let him touch you again. There won't be a way for him to hurt you again and this trial will see to it."
"Okay." I breath.
Zack is already dress and ready to walk out the door, while I slip on my flats. He takes my hand and walks with me out the front door before locking up. Zack pats his sides and does a check that everything is station on his belt the way it should be.
The drive to the court house goes by to fast. I see Chasity at the salon with it open taking walk ins today. She wants nothing more to have the shop open to help the salon. Thankfully everyone in town is understanding when things have been taken off mine and Bethany's schedule due to us having to be through this trial.
It would have been just fine with me if they only had me come in for the parts where I have to give my account to testify, but they had papers drawn up to where I am to be at the entire trial. Zack was not happy about the DA doing that but their is nothing I can do about it without risking jail time myself and that is not going to happen.
Bethany is standing at the doors of the court house, in professional clothing. Something I am not used to seeing her look so stiff. I get out of the truck and step up to her.
"This is going to be torture isn't it?"
I let a breath out and look to Zack. "It only is if we let it. My plan is not to let him get to me, because he can't hurt me anymore." Going over Zack's words from earlier.
Zack opens the door for us and we have to go through metal detectors.
"You will be in court room number seven." A Officer points us in the direction.
"Thank you." I move over and Bethany goes through the same.
We stand and watch Zack talk with the Officer as Brit walks in. They both walk up to where Bethany and I am.
"Once you walk through the door, just find a seat and make sure your phone is turned off during everything. I have to walk in through a different door and sit in a different section than where you aren't allowed to be." Zack kisses my head and hugs me tight.
"When recess is called, I'll come get you." Zack whispers.
"See you in there." I try to smile but it just isn't working.
"There is no way to say in what order the judge will have things called either." Brit speaks up.
"I do know the victim from seven years ago is here. We found her and I spoke with her. She didn't want to come but the DA found her too and they subpoena her here for all of this."
I let out a small gasp because I didn't know Zack had been able to talk the lady and her know Dason was caught.
Bethany and I walk in through the door. I look around the court room and there is two Officers by a door, and only one person sitting on a bench close to us.
A woman that doesn't look much older than Bethany and I, looks to us. She looks so famaliar and her appearances are staggering.
"Oh my God! Athena she looks so much like you." Bethany whispers.
The lady stands and steps up to me.
"Hi, I am Athena. You must be the victim from seven years ago." I try to be nice with her scared too.
"Yeah I am and I never thought I would be back in town. It has brought back so many memories. A Detective called and said the guy was caught, it help relief so much. Then the DA called and served me papers that I had to be here to testify. I am going to do it because I want this guy to never hurt anyone again."
"That is what is helping me too."
"You are the one the Detective talked about saving like me." The lady chokes up.
My tears start to form. "Yes I am." I nod some.
She wraps me in a hug. "I am sorry he couldn't have been caught before I fled town to where you would have been safe from him too."
"Don't blame yourself, you had to make sure you was safe." I wipe my eyes. "Zack and them got him this time."
"He is the one that called me."
"He is my husband."
"It is so good he was able to save you. I am sorry to hear about him being what he was to you." She stops and looks at Bethany.
"Bethany." She smiles and hugs the lady too.
"Where are my manners? I am all a mess today. My name is Molly Sunastance."
She pulls my hand and has me sit right next to her and never lets go of my hand. In a way we can support each other through this. Bethany sits next to me and the three of us are touching not wanting to have the space between us.
I have heard her name before, I just don't know where and it has nothing to do with this case.
My eyes meet Zack's as he walks in with the others, just before order is called to court.
A/N---
Hey Hey Guys!!!Trial is starting! Will it be a quick event or will Dason's lawyer put up a fight for him?
