After everything was cleaned up and the hounding ended from Bethany and Chasity, I spent the night in my apartment. Nothing helped ease the stress from the day like a hot bath, although it didn't help to sleep much still.
This morning I had to do the full make up work. Foundation and all, as where I usually go for some simple make up around my eyes. Had to hide the dark circles some how while keeping up a nice professional look when I have clients coming in and out all day.
Pulling up to the salon, I let out a sigh. That board tacked up does nothing to help the appearance of my shop. Sadly, there is nothing else I can do for it right now. Guess I could use my own money to replace the window, but that is what insurance is for so what would be the point.
I have to learn patience. The only area that is my weakness because lets face it, I don't have any. If I do it is on the slim to none side.
Bethany walks in a moment after I unlock the door and is her bubbly self. It brings me to smile, because even with this over my head and it got brought to the shop she isn't letting it stop her. So, today I will take a page out of her book, no one got hurt which means happy life currently.
Chasity walks in and is all smiles herself.
We get to setting up the work stations. I walk to the back to start the washer up from the towels that didn't get cleaned yesterday. Chasity walks up to me and pulls out the towels from the dryer for folding.
"Thanks." I smile.
"We all pitch in to help around here."
"That we do." I smile.
"I am glad you hired me and gave me a chance when other salons wouldn't being fresh out of schooling."
I rub her arms. "No reason to thank me. Their lost was my gain, because like I have told you the work you shown more than proved you to be capable. You never hestiate to ask for help either and that is a marvelous quality."
We fold up the towels and get them placed on the shelves. Bethany was not able to help this time since her client came in a little early and they got right to work.
Nothing bets that smells from the hair products. May be random but they calm me, just like how the hair slips through my fingers. All to be rewarded with some of the largest smiles.
My first client sits in my chair and we go over the cut she is wanting. A short bob done. It is going to be a breeze with the length of her hair currently and all one length.
I wet her hair down and start the first cuts. It is just like the first time ever doing it all over again.
"I am glad to see you guys open today." She smiles in the mirror to me.
"We wouldn't close easily." I smile to her as I go back looking at her hair.
"I am glad about that, because this hair was starting to get on my nerves. When I just need something new you guys deliver."
"That is very true. This will look so good on you too. Did you want the bangs that the picture shown?"
"Let's go for it. That will make a major difference right?"
"For sure. This style is also extremely easy to care for and keep up." I smile to her, just as I add the bangs.
With a quick blow dry and brushing off, she is finished and looking at the end results.
"Perfection! I knew you guys could deliver the new look."
"Aw! Thank you so much. It means so much to us." I check her out and she leaves a tip behind for me.
I get up from the computer and grab the broom.
The hair is almost swept up completely when the bells ring. "I'll be with you in just a minute." I call out over the other blow dryers going the girls have on.
My schedule today is mainly open for walk ins, so I just wanted to clean the rest of my area up quickly.
"Ms. Greg." A males voice speaks out, that causes my heart to flutter.
My head snaps up.
"Detective Gatlin. Please just call me Athena. What do I owe the pleasure? Is there more questions?"
He moves to laugh some, but stops.
"Please then call me Zack. I actually wanted to bring this by for you. I know your insurance would be needing it and it finally got finialized."
He hands out some papers. I take them and see it is the police report.
"Thank you." I nod.
"Have you received anymore messages or phone calls?"
"Uh not last night anyways. I haven't checked my phone so far today. It is sitting in my purse on silent."
I move back to my station and bend down to pull my phone from my purse. Right as my hand touches my phone, I jump up quickly and spin around. I put my behind right in his face basically with where he is standing.
"I am so sorry."
"For what?" Zack smirks.
"Nevermind." I cough some, if he isn't going to say it neither am I.
Looking at my phone, sure enough there is a message.
"I got one sometime this morning. I am fixing to open it up."
Zack moves to stand, looking over my shoulder down to my phone.
I read the message over and just hand the phone straight up to him over my shoulder. My hands start to shake and I barely make it in my station chair, before my legs give way.
That text from today is a picture of me opening up my shop this morning. The caption under it asking, 'What will it take to get a pretty thing like you to look my way? Should I start at your feet and work up.'
"I am going to send them to my email so we can get copies of it and add to the report. We will do everything we can to keep you safe." Zack's voice sounds distant.
I barely register when Bethany runs over and looks into my eyes.
"He was here this morning by the salon." Is all I get out, as the nerves of how real this is sets in.
