*A few months later*

I shot my wolf spirit arrows at the targets. Controlling these wolves was difficult but I needed to do it. I hit the target on 9, almost a bulls eye. I growled and held a flaming wolf spirit in my hand, throwing it at the target and it burned black on contact.

I felt fur nudging against my leg. I looked down and saw Shikita, my Spirit Wolf. All witches have a certain animal as their symbol. Arachnae is spiders, Medusa is snakes, Eruka is frogs, Mesume is mice and Maba is ravens. My own were wolves. I have the largest witch animal in the entire Witch Council. Most of them have insects or smaller animals. I have the wolf. It symbolizes bravery and great strength. Which I had none of but I had no choice.

"Lena! Watch out!" Alec's voice yelled at me. I snapped out of my thoughts, only to be hit by Maba's largest raven.

"Ah!" I yelled as I hit the ground. I looked at her.

"Focus Lena! You are loosing your concentration! Stay focused!" she yelled at me as I got up, using Alec for support. I growled.

"Why don't you try being new to all this, Maba!? I only found out I'm a witch a few months ago! It must have been the same for you! Oh wait, no cause you were born a witch!" I yelled at her. That made her shut up.

"Lena, calm down! Your wavelengths are going chaotic!" Alec called to me, as pulled me into a hug. My heart raced but soon calmed as I relaxed into his embrace.

There was no point in fighting with Alec. He always wins. The only battles he ever looses is a stare down or a silence contest. Most against me. But whenever he goes against Black Star in a silence contest, he always wins. I should know. I almost went deaf when Black Star yelled in my ear one time.

I stepped out of Alec's embrace and walked into the mansion, slamming the door behind me. I was sick of all this training. And with the 100 years since the DWMA's founding celebration coming up, it just made matters worse. I decided to start shopping for something nice to wear. I grabbed my hand bag, put my purse and phone in and walked to the market alone. But what I saw, I didn't expect. I saw Professor Stein fighting another man. He looked German.

"You're not taking my job Richtofen!" Stein yelled at the man, before attempting his soul force. But Richtofen easily caught his wrist and flipped Stein over his back.

"Professor Stein!" I exclaimed as I ran to him, kneeling next to him.

"Lena, run!" he yelled. It was then that I noticed the market was empty due to the fight. I looked at Richtofen who was grinning darkly at me. "Alec, weapon form!" I yelled, only to get no answer. Damn, I forgot I didn't bring Alec! Guess I should just run like Stein said. I stood up and turned to run.

"Chicken, Lena?" I heard Richtofen's voice say. I stopped in my tracks.

"What?" I said, anger in my voice.

"You heard me." he replied. I may not have courage or bravery but no one calls me a chicken!

I turned and sent a flaming wolf spirit at Richtofen. He dodged it with ease. I ran at him, holding a second ball in my hand. I leaped at him but he stepped out of the way. I landed on my feet, close to him and slammed the fire ball into his face. He yelled in pain and stumbled backwards, one side of his face burned.

But then he smiled. An evil smile. I looked at him. His face was healing! How was that even possible!? I was so shocked, I didn't see what came next.

He ran at me like lightning, using a super sonic soul force on me. I flew across the street and smacked into the concrete wall. I yelled in pain and crumpled to the floor, in pain. I heard paws running at me. It was Shikita. But she was blasted too into the concrete wall, a yelp of pain coming from her.

"Shikita!!!" I screamed. She wasn't moving. Tears slipped from my eyes. Richtofen was laughing. "You killed her... YOU KILLED HER!!!" I screamed at him. And then, darkness again. But what I saw... I was winning before I blacked out.

*Minutes later*

I woke in someone's arms. I looked up and saw Professor Stein carrying me. I groaned in pain. He looked down at me.

"Lay still. Your injuries are very serious. You have both internal and external damage to your body. Even your soul wavelength is cracked." he informed me. I managed a nod and relaxed into his arms.

I felt him lay me down on a hospital bed and looked around. It wasn't the nurses office in school, that's for sure. It was his lab. He grabbed a gas tank.

"I'm gonna need to operate on you to fix any internal damage okay?" he asked. I nodded but grabbed his wrist before he could knock me out. He looked at me, confused.

"What happened back there...?" I asked him weakly.

"Your soul reacted to the pain you felt when Shikita was killed... It awakened the magic inside you.  Magic that has been dormant for almost 16 years. And now it is becoming active. As you are." he said. I looked at him. He nodded and I nodded back, releasing his hand.

He placed the gas mask over my nose and mouth and I fell unconscious.
