Seonghwa woke up to feel cool and pleasant gush of air on his face. He opened his eyes, dim light of torches flooded into his pupils. He winced at his own breathing.
"He's awake! He's awake!" Seonghwa heard someone whisper.
Seonghwa couldn't make out who the voice belonged to. Somewhere, someone was singing in the distance. It wasn't Yunho, Seonghwa could tell.
A hand shook his arm, "Hey!" Someone whispered again.
Seonghwa focused on the sound, his vision was blurred. He blinked a few times, and a face came into focus. Wooyoung.
His eyes were puffy, hair tousled, he was wearing the camp robe, it looked in its worst condition.
Wooyoung's eyes began to water as he looked down at Seonghwa.
Seonghwa wanted to say something, but he couldn't move his lips.
Another figure came into focus, Yeosang rubbed Wooyoung on the sides, "He's okay, little guy." he said to Wooyoung, "You are, right?" He turned to Seonghwa.
Seonghwa wanted to say a yes, even if it was a lie. All of this broke his heart.
Jongho came towards him and fed him a few drops of a sweet liquid.
"You'll be alright, man!" Jongho said and went out of focus.
A few minutes passed, Seonghwa couldn't do anything, he watched his friends. They all looked miserable, as though they had not slept since days, less they had bothered about studies.
Seonghwa tried to move, causing immense pain somewhere in his chest. San rushed to his side as he saw him, and helped him sit up.
"I'am alright." Seonghwa could speak, his voice weak and hoarse.
"It's okay, you can rest." Yeosang said.
"No, I have a lot to tell you guys." Seonghwa's voice barely came out as a whisper. Talking was draining the energy put of him, but he had to tell them everything he saw.
"Kim Damyeong." Seonghwa said the name, "She's Hongjoong's mother."
Five pairs of wide eyes looked at him.
"What?" Yunho almost shouted, "No way!"
"It's true." Seonghwa said. "And Hongjoong's the other elemental magician you guys were talking about, he can control fire."
"What?" Another shout, this time from Wooyoung.
"Yes." Seonghwa proceeded to tell them everything that happened in the span of four days. He told them about the dead camp mate, about how he'd been killed.
Yunho began to tear up hearing all things about Hongjoong.
"No! He couldn't have lied." Yunho said through tears.
"Well, he did. He was never his real self with us. He was just playing around waiting for his mom." Seonghwa told him.
"No," Yunho's voice was barely a whisper, "He couldn't have."
"I am sorry, but it's true, he's working with them, I don't know what they're upto." Seonghwa said.
"No." Yunho whispered, "He loved you."
Seonghwa's heart dropped, he didn't know that Yunho knew about the relationship. The others looked at him, confused.
"He didn't, it was all a part of his play. Or probably it wasn't, he just went along with all the shit." Seonghwa said.
"No, no, no." Yunho cried, "He loved you even before he saw you! He isn't betraying anyone! No! He is my friend! He- No!" Yunho said.
"What do you even mean?" Seonghwa asked numbly.
|flashback|
Yunho and Hongjoong were sitting on Hongjoong's bed, surrounded by paintings. It was an usual afternoon, they were talking about some books, making jokes.
"But hey!" Yunho giggled, "It's time you get yourself a partner! How long are you staying alone with that handsome face?"
"Oh you're better than me." Hongjoong had replied, half laughing, "and I ain't getting myself no one, I'm waiting for the right one."
"The right one?" Yunho laughed.
"Yeah."
"How do you even know if someone's the right one." Yunho asked.
"Look." Hongjoong had said, before pulling out a piece of canvas.
"Woah." Yunho had to say.
It was an oil painting of a pair of eyes. The eyes held a sparkle within them, twinkling with happiness. The eyes were so carefully drawn they almost looked real.
"I'm gonna find these eyes one day, it'll be the right one." Hongjoong had said.
Yunho had laughed.
"Those eyes look exactly like yours." Yunho whispered.
Seonghwa couldn't say anything. He felt like crying himself, then why was Hongjoong doing all this? No, he told himself, Hongjoong wasn't telling the truth, when had he? He was probably playing one of his acts with Yunho. He had never loved him. Otherwise, how could he have thrown those lashes at him, it hurt too much.
It hurt, everything did.
