Four days had passed since he first woke up, by now, Seonghwa had memorised all the events that took place in the large dull hall. He knew the time when they would all get together and talk about weapons, when they would all leave to eat and what not. The funny thing was that no one ever talked as if they had any plans, like the news stated, to take over camps or schools. It merely seemed like a get together for all the crazy people who told their crazy stories.
Among them, two sane souls: one betrayed, other a traitor.
Seonghwa, though calculating all the possibilities of his escape, knew only two things: grief and regret.
Regret was of not listening to Yeosang, and becoming friends with Hongjoong anyways. Regret was more of falling in love with him.
Grief was for himself, the innocence of himself for falling for all his lies. For seeing nothing else but the good in him.
How could he lie to me? Seonghwa thought all the time. And then kept realising that of course he could lie, why not, he had meant nothing to him. It was always a part of his play.
Seonghwa still remembered the words of his camp mate who died three days ago. Escape.
Escape. He had decided to clear his mind of all the emotions and focus on escaping.
And it was on the next day, about late afternoon, when, as Seonghwa knew, all the people dispersed in order of their majesty.
The shackles he was tied within, were the easiest to escape. It took a few murmurings of spells he had learned at the camp. The chains fell apart at once, and Seonghwa stood up.
He felt a pang of pain in his knees and the back of his neck. He struggled to stand straight for a moment. He took a good look around the empty hall. His dead camp mate's body was still in the same place. Dagger pinned to the chest, dry blood on the clothes. His eyes still looked as if he was looking straight towards Seonghwa.
Seonghwa picked up a sword from the bars that held the weapons. He hoped to meet the guards outside the hall, and was all ready to fight them.
Once outside, Seonghwa stepped on the grass quietly, keeping an eye fir any movement. He kearned that the hall was fenced by a brick wall that looked quite ancient.
He took in a deep breathe. This was it, he told himself. He found the gate that led to the forest, the problem was the two guards standing their on full attention with their spears up. Seonghwa couldn't think much, he summoned water, whimmed it at both of them. This distracted them enough to help Seonghwa reach the gates. However, they were quick to recover.
"Hey! Who the fuck?" One of the guards yelled as he wiped his eyes.
Seonghwa once again attacked with water. The other guard threw a spear at him this time. Seonghwa easily ducked that one. However, he had to defend himself with the sword when another came, chips of wood flew as the weapons clashed against each other.Seonghwa didn't have much time to think, he didn't have the heart to, but he knew he had to kill these guards who were literally doing their jobs.
Once again, an attack of water. A slash of sword, a duck from the spears, a stab and it was over. The guards lay there, one dead and the other probably close.Seonghwa could have muttered a sorry if he had time. Seonghwa flung the other way and ran into the woods. Finally breathing an air of freedom. He ran as fast as he could with his pained knees, he got as far as he could from the deathly place. After about running fir what seemed hours, the woods began to look familiar. He sat down for a rest. His head dizzy of all the occassions.
Suddenly, he heard a movement far behind him. He looked back, there were people in black coats, on their way to somewhere. Seonghwa knew they were the investigators, he wanted to call out to them, but his voice failed him He had no energy left in him after the massive use of element magic.
He stood up, made an attempt of waving his arms, which was of no use. Then he picked a rock and threw it in their direction. Which caused a sharp pain in his arm. His vision dizzied and the next thing he knew was darkness.
