Chap. 2 The Awakening

A Few days later....

Xiao had gone to ask for the book again from Xingqiu, he was curious and upset as to why most of your lore was torn apart, it was a disrespect to you and all you did for Liyue and without It being known most of all, Xingqiu said that he'd try to search for any remnants or other records of you and mend the book, so Xiao had something to at least look forward to with that, after a long day of surveillance and keeping a look out Xiao made his way back to Wangshu Inn, as the sun was setting upon the horizon and the wind blew, Xiao looked to the sky as the stars soon came out and among those stars, could've sworn that he could see you within them, but he knew It was just an Illusion of his mind, as he returned he then went into the elevator with the rope bringing him up, and he went up to his quarters there In the upper level, one of the maids offered to bring him dinner, but Xiao declined saying that he was fine as he then headed up to his room, he dispelled his polearm before he went to go relax on the bed for a while, but he had become restless as his mind was full once again, Xiao then went to look out his window 

sitting there as he started to have flashbacks, flashbacks of the days when you'd lay on the grass watching the stars with the others, Xiao thought of the other Yaksha as family but not you, for you were the one that he loved and cherished beyond that, you were his first love, Xiao started to smile as he thought of you, but just then he saw something out In the distance 

about twenty meters away from Wangshu Inn, a Light that was Icy blue appeared all of a sudden and soon snow started to swirl as you then appeared, you slowly came to the ground as you then landed on your back, the light soon faded as the tattoo on your back glowed and you soon started to rouse, you slowly opened your eyes as you then gained your bearings 

you started to sit up, looking around at the grassy area and starry sky, faintly able to see lights In the distance, you then started to pick yourself off the ground as you ran a hand over your white hair, you then looked around once more but then you heard the sounds of footsteps fast approaching through the tall grass, you looked In fright as you started to back away slowly but then your mask appeared over your face, and you became confused as to what It was 

but then Xiao came to a halt about six feet away from you, underneath his mask his golden eyes widened with shock, he then reached up to touch his mask which dispelled It 

"Is It...Is It truly you?"

Xiao then felt his hands tremble and he walked forward as he touched your mask, It went away to reveal your face, the face he never thought that he'd see again, Xiao honestly thought that this was some sort of Illusion trap, but even If It was he didn't care at all 

he cupped your cheek, "I...Ionius...It's really you"

you were confused, "who are you?"

"It's been a thousand years but It's still me, Alatus"

Xiao then wrapped his arms around you, you were surprised at the sudden embrace as he held you to him close, his hands trembled as he ran a hand through your white hair, 

Xiao took in a breath, "I can't believe this...I remember the day you were taken away, the others were devastated same with his lordship, but I most of all, I've never forgotten you"

you looked to this guy, you could see his hair was a dark green and he was wearing colors of white, purple and blue with beads around his neck

you then placed your hand on his back "Forgive me but, have we met?"

Xiao's eyes widened, he then parted from you a little "What do you mean, you know me Ionius, It's me Alatus"

you placed a hand to your head, "I apologize, but I really don't know you"

Xiao then felt his world shake, he closed his eyes as he held to your shoulders, he then guessed that something must have happened to your memories, and he had no Idea how you were even here as you died centuries ago, Xiao then let out a sigh "do you remember the others, Bonanus, Indarias, Pervases, Menogias, Bosacious"

you started thinking, "I...I don't, I don't know of them, sorry"

Xiao was shocked It was worse then he thought, "Then...do you know who and what you are?"

you shook your head, he then shut his eyes tightly, you didn't remember that you're a Yaksha or the others but most of all, you forgot who he is and It struck his heart, Xiao didn't want to believe but the evidence was right In front of him

"I see...well then, you can't stay out here as you are, would you come with me?"

you looked to him, "Alright, can trust you?"

Xiao gave a gentle smile, "You can and In fact you used to"

you looked into his eyes, the bore so many emotions but the one that shone most was a great sadness, you then looked to his face he was very handsome with a slight cuteness 

he held out his hand, "I promise you can trust me, my name is Xiao"

"hm? but I thought you said It was Alatus?"

"I'll explain that to you later"

you then let out a sigh, you slowly placed your hand In his before he held it, he then started walking back to Wangshu Inn guiding you along with him, you didn't know him or rather remember him but to you it seemed you used to be acquainted from what he said, but you really didn't remember this guy at all, when you started to search your memory you just saw someone but their face was all blurry, after a few minute walk you reached the Wangshu Inn and Xiao led you up to his room, upon coming in you looked all around 

"Where are we?"

Xiao leaned against the wall, "Wangshu Inn, do you know the name of this region?"

you started to think, "I...I believe it's called...Liyue"

"do you remember what happened to you"

you looked to Xiao with furrowed brows, he then walked closer to you "It happened a thousand years ago, we were cleansing the land of evil per the orders of Rex Lapis, and to save me you put yourself in harms way, you died"

your eyes widened, "What...I died?"

he gave a nod, "yes"

you placed a hand to your head as It throbbed, "and Rex Lapis...that name"

Xiao thought It's good that you at least remember Liyue, and It would be good too If you remembered Rex Lapis, to Xiao he hoped that he could help you regain memories 

"In any case, please get some rest I'll explain more to you tomorrow"

you slowly nodded, "Alright, but where will you sleep?"

Xiao gave a small smile, "you may take the bed, I'll be fine"

you then moved over to the bed as you then fixed up the pillow, before you laid down 

"well, goodnight Xiao" 

Xiao gave a nod, "Yes, Goodnight"

Xiao then closed his eyes as he went to lean against the wall once more, you looked to Xiao as you tried your best to recall him again, but you couldn't remember a thing about who he was, and even who you were, after a while you got tired of thinking so hard and fell asleep which made Xiao open his eyes, he then gazed at your sleeping form, he started over to the bed and kneeled at the bedside as he then slowly reached to touch your cheek, his eyes started to gloss over with relief, love, and sadness, the sadness came from your not remembering him but he promised that he'd help you, he'd help you to regain your memories but first he had to tell Zhongli of this, Xiao lightly caressed your cheek 

"ionius, you have no Idea how much I longed for you...and now I promise I won't fail you again...".
